Why can’t it be done without BoP mats? What do mats being bop change other than not allowing those mats to be sold to others?
I mean, back in vanilla and TBC we had craftable gear that was highly desireable and didn’t require bop mats. Robe of the Archmage, Belt of the Archmage, Frozen Shadoweave & Spellfire sets. Those were good items. Not necessarily the best at all times, but they were really good during their times.
I meant for the ingredients needed to tie into the AH automatically. So at the work order window, the game automatically charges the client for the ingredients directly from the AH, choosing the lowest prices available.
A better solution would to NOT have implemented this stupid system in the first place. It only exists because some loud-mouth complainers demanded that Blizzard add in the ability for people to place incomplete work orders, just so they could do that stupid “do 2 work orders” quest and refused to do it with their alts like everyone else does, just because they wanted to complain.
Because the BoP mats make certain that you need to do appropriately challenging content to get the higher ilvl crafted rewards, and rewards corresponding to challenges overcome to obtain those rewards is RPG Design 101.
I requested work orders for dragonriding customizations. I didn’t get the mats but I tipped 5k each, was that okay? I honestly didn’t know what to do when this first came out lol.
This is such a pointless thread. Fulfill the work order if the commission is worth it to you. Plain and simple. Literally the exact premise of a free market. I want a good and I’m willing to pay X for it. You have said good or can make said good…is this price good? If yes proceed otherwise move along.
The person requesting the order is wasting their own time and money listing orders nobody is fulfilling. Their problem. The entire work order system sucks, but this is is not a problem with it.
They should tie the work order system into the AH system so you can buy the mats you are missing without having to run between NPCs… you should not however be able to place an order that is missing mats.
What no mat ordering is supposed to solve wasn’t worth it!
It’s not pointless, the system on launch was fine, Blizzard changed it, people have been expressing their frustration with the stupid change that Blizzard made.
The system at either iteration is fine. The game warns you that you are potentially working an order with missing mats. You got eyes and can see if the gold being offered is worth what you’re going to have to provide. You can make your own guild/personal orders and get the quest done (which is what I do).
At the core, the system is good and everything an actual proper free market should be. People offering trash orders will be wasting their time/gold listing them and valid orders can be filled by savvy crafters. No different than someone flooding the market with cheap mats and others crying about it. Buy the seller out and relist if you think it is too low or accept your valuation is too high and adjust accordingly.
The only way I’ll do no material ones is if the tip pays for the ingredients!
Like if it costs 3k to craft and they give a 5k tip, ok that’s nbd I can start it get the materials and make em something good and try to lower that 3k craft cost. That’s absolutely ok.
What isn’t ok is having ones spammed with no commission or 1 gold commissions.
It would’nt be so bad if at least when you ignore them it didnt still list there as being # of needed orders on an item then you click it and its blank making you realize that all of them were likely from the same 2 or 3 scammers you blocked weeks ago.
A caveat to the set minimum quality, I rather you cant because people would only set it at lvl 5,
So maybe a set “bonus per level” tab so if someone crafts it to max, they get more, but if not, it does at least get made
As I previously mentioned, everyone would set it at 5, and then nobody could accept the order because you can’t accept a work order unless you can guarantee the specific rank, without inspiration or insight.
