its just gonna mean that people that have iLVL of x amount will never take someone that is near pre-bis in the next 3 to 4 months… so the players will be excluded and quit.

As a tank and healer this hardly happens. If im doing anzu runs or something with the bois and need to fill whatever warm body /whispers me first gets in.

i don’t think player will be kicked or not invited because of ilvl like on pserver
im pretty sure people will check logs before judging you on what you gear look like. you can be sure i won’t bring people who are full icc bis with shadowmourne and can’t parse above 85
I think wcl parses check will still be the higher measure of gatekeeping
I dont think people are really checking WCL for heroics. And if they are, why would anyone want to be apart of that group.
Has anyone ever gear checked you for a heroic before? The only thing I ever remember checking was Heroic Arc runs to remind people to have some stam gear because mind flay did a flat 8000 damage over 4 seconds, so wanted to make sure they wouldnt get one tapped. And even then it wasnt really a hard requirement, just some forethought before entering the dungeon.
RDF Xserver was cancer for WOTLK. Random people joined groups and dropped out if the boss they wanted didn’t drop the loot they were after. The longer it went the worst people got for there was no more accountability anymore. If they did RDF server only then it would be fine but Xserver RFD is bad for the genre.
How does server only fix that? Even if you knew the name of someone who acted like that, you could still get grouped with them in RDF
I don’t believe I had that happen a single time in Wrath.
If they leave the group, they get Deserter and have to wait before they can even queue again. It’s way more efficient just to blast through the rest of the dungeon and try again. If the group is getting along you just requeue and you’re instantly in another dungeon.
No such protection exists without RDF. People just bail and your group fall apart. Reputation means nothing. And even if it did, Blizz is adding name change so…players can wipe the slate clean anytime they want.
I think it happened to me like once. 90% of the RDF runs went like normal, but those aren’t the ones you remember.

Oh man, an Anzu run filling quickly… who would imagine.
Maybe my server was unlucky. The worst case was a run with 4 players in the same guild. We got to the last boss and my bow dropped. The problem was there was another hunter in that guild. They voted me out and took the bow. Besides that many times, we had people drop from runs it was pretty common on our server.
I think you missed what he was saying. He’s saying he didn’t gear check people on an Anzu run. Which is a heroic, which is what OP is worried about his gear not being good enough for.
So what you’re saying is 4 randoms wouldn’t have had the power to collude and screw your over.
BS! RDF was how I originally found my guild and the only way I was able to do dungeons. This time around I haven’t run a single dungeon through classic, TBC and now again when Wrath launches without RDF
True, but the dropping from runs was a huge issue on the server.
One its TBC,
Two its the end of the expac… 90% chance you gonna get somebody geared, and there is no easy response question to ask such “whats your gear score”.
Why are we pretending that gatekeeping isn’t going to be a real thing… as it has been with no rdf for 2 expansions.

I’m not saying good can’t come from it like when I met my best friend on a full loot corpse run in EQ. Today most would say a huge big fat no to loot corpse runs.
