they can’t this have be an eternal bg like classic av could be once. I only did 15th anniversary to know how it was. and yes…I stayed for one to actually complete. 3 hours later…
nice honor, nice xp to level and anything was better than leveling in 110 to 120 in BFA.
the raiders will need the raid switches sooner than 3 hours I’d wager.
Of course its lost. Faerlina Horde deserves free and constant access to the raid at all times, as a reward for running out the alliance from the server. Let dumb losers like Grobbulus who cant even win their server fight over it like animals, one-faction mega servers deserve their non-instanced autowin Wintergrasp.
because your factions suck at running the other out. If they could clearly win you’d have peace of mind and enjoyable dominated farm and gathering spots like a normal server.
This is such a wtf mindstate lol. Like we genuinely enjoy the battles. We literally pubcrawled all of the alliance cities last night. You know theres people who care about playing the game right? Not just min maxing everything to oblivion?
Imagine literally being proud of your server being unhealthy (horrendously imbalanced) and then complaining that, heaven forbid, the other side who is constantly dunked on might actually get to see content.
Being proud of an imbalanced, sickly, server state… My god
What other side? The tiny amount of alliance players left have had months to reroll Benediction by now, at some point they were victims but its been this way for so long that they’re inflicting it on themselves. Whatever hardship they go through is what they themselves chose to endure.
Nobody really dunks on them anyways. People here dont give two carps about world pvp. Even when they do stupid things like camp lowbies at the hellfire / auchindoun stone there is no flock of high levels to defend, people just ignore them until they get bored and leave.
You aren’t alone. I was able to find A LOT of off-forum stuff talking about this too.
A lot of people on this forum right now care about specific things and make sure to mention those things constantly on every thread, but that doesn’t mean nobody who plays the game cares about the Wintergrasp changes. Usually, I like to come to the forums to vent about Classic things. In this case, I did like normal, but there are better places overall. It made me feel better that there are actually still groups of lIke minded people out there who care about what I do. Just not so much on these forums at the moment.
Anyway, it’s kind of unfortunate because I really do think Wintergrasp could have been epic on Grobbulus, even if there were multiple instances, but it is what it is I guess.
Funny how some people reacts when wintergrasp is like retail now everything goes to hell because “some changes” while they celebrate that RDF isnt coming…
Which one is it…? changes that benefit my opinion/view or blizzard is bad because they refuse to create a server for my own needs?
And no, if you’re willing to accept changes you’re already on the horse mounted up big cowboy adapt or you know what to do…
Faction balance wasn’t the only reason that they made Wintergrasp an instance though:
Put simply, the Battle for Wintergrasp as it existed in 2008 is fundamentally incompatible with layers (or the modern sharding system, for that matter). Behind the scenes mechanisms, events, and scripts that control how the battle is initiated, how it’s resolved, and how the rewards are given out cannot function properly across layers.
Considering that Grobbulus is the 3’rd biggest NA server, I’m guessing they have perma layers enabled atm, which would make it incompatible with OG WotLK Wintergrasp. Sure, they could disable layers, lock the server for new characters, give free transfers off, and bring back queues till it has a healthy pop for a single layer 24/7, but remind me how that went for Firemaw? https://ironforge.pro/population/tbc/Firemaw/
And if blizzard would just announce that LFD was being released with ICC in wrath classic there would be a lot less vitriol about it.
Also since they’re going to be launching with end of wrath game play and mechanics like they have in vanilla and TBC classic it would be consistent for LFD to be in from the start.
There’s relevance here. Blizzard removes dungeon finder, which screws over people on lower pop servers because “server identity is more important than accessibility and convenience.” Yet then they turn Wintergrasp into a 40v40 cross-realm bg to accommodate low pop, high pop, faction imbalanced servers because “accessibility and convenience are more important than server identity.” Two completely opposite design principles.
I see some of the anti-lfd posters here in this thread saying ‘but I wouldn’t be able to even experience the content otherwise!’. I expect that kind of hypocrisy from forum posters, but to see it from Classic devs is another story.
I mean it’s what we’ve come to expect from the devs in retail for years, remember how they blatantly lied about being able/willing to reenable flying on the drop of a dime in WoD?
Also, this is bollocks. Blizzard is directly responsible for the existence of megaservers. They could have disabled transfers to servers long ago. They could have restricted character creation. And now they’re making design decisions that drive even more players to megaservers.
Nothing says server community like 50,000 strangers and a dozen layers.
