I’m probably okay with the vehicle stuff for two reasons:
The game’s based off the RTS, where you often controlled tanks and catapults and crap (eg: the Meat Wagon mount)
It’s PVP - “player versus player”, not CVC - “character versus character”. The players are still there controlling things and competing against one another. Just because it’s a player not just controlling a digital avatar, but a player controlling a digital avatar controlling something else doesn’t remove the “player”.
It’s still PVP by definition, even if you don’t like it. WoW was never promised to be CVC, in fact it’s not even a thing.
AV has been in play almost from the beginning of wow. I myself have never seen a lot of posts asking for WG or Ashran Until Blizzard announces that there were incorporated it.
I saw a few for each, and it’s not like I see everything. Was on break when WG was current, but people said good things so I looked forward to it. Ashran I am/was pretty meh on but people did ask for it.
There are a few people on this board that think this board is a majority. It’s not. These forums are a very small subset of players, often the vocal minority, that think by posting the same thing will make something fact.
Blizzard has metrics, stats and means for feedback way beyond this board. They can see how many people specific queue. They can see how many people replay content. They get data on how many people abandon battlegrounds. Just because some people keep posting the same rhetoric across multiple threads does not make something a consensus.
Southshore vs Tarren Mill really is better suited to a “regular” epic bg in the rotation… it’s simple, fun, and your average casual likes it.
Wintergrasp really is more suited to an occasional once-in-a-while “brawl”, it’s just so gimmicky with the vehicles and such - it detracts too much from PvP imo.
And of course, the average casual seems to dislike WG judging by all the moaning and groaning I regularly see in the chat. And also all the AFKing out that commonly happens in WG
Yeah it’s a fun nostalgia thing but it literally has no strategy whatsoever.
WPVP in Southshore back then had strategy to it. People went in buildings, ran around and flanked you, but none of that is here. It’s just Frieght Train A ramming headfirst into Freight Train B. Whichever one has the biggest “motor” wins.
I’m RDPS so I’m getting the most fun out of it as is possible and I think it gets pretty boring.
