I have no stakes at high level play, yet, but as someone with too many monk alts and a monk main, I beg for monk improvements in balance and design

There arenât many specs that are in a worse state than Shadow this patch. Windwalker, unfortunately, is one of those specs. But you really donât want the same sorts of reworks weâve gotten; thereâs a reason why they keep having to rework us.
What you guys want is a single strong, central direction in which the spec needs to be taken so that it can actually be adjusted properly and actually completed. Ideally one that deletes Faeline Stomp and doesnât look back.
There are literally so many things that need to fixed/addressed for WW.
FLS and BDB gotta go for WW.
ToD talents gotta be condensed and repositioned.
Overall talent bloat has to be axed, and actual good talents put in the empty spaces.
And as a whole, our stuff just needs to be un-nerfed.
Just to name a few things.
Day 3, Talent Row 3
Widening Whirl - Why? This talent is so useless. 1yd increase on sck? Seriously?
Touch of the Tiger - The power should be moved into Power Strikes
Hardened Soles - Incredibly boring talent, and needs to be buffed by a lot. 12/24% would be fair
Flashing Fists - Pointless talent intended to just make Fists of Fury worth pressing. Sad.
Open Palm Strikes - This is fine. Increase the chi refund rate to at least 25%

idk i find ww to be super fun rn in preseason and im hitting nasty 600k rsks that just blast all day but you are right with all the buffs going out for other classes and everything getting reworked and changed wont be long till ww is behind the pack like it always is at the start of a season but thats just how its always been

Actually never thought about the covenant abilities being on the monk tree and when you really think about this, and then think about their justification for putting strong abilities on the paladin tree rework earlier in the expansion it was exactly this;
âWe want it to feel like there are strong capstones that reward you for getting to the end of the treeâ
They get spells like divine toll
What do monks get for getting to their coveted capstone? a statue that does less than 1% of your overall damage in a dungeon that tanks kite out of anyway, or an ox statue thats almost completely worthless for any other monk than brewmaster? or a jade serpent statue that LITERALLY HAS VIRTUALLY 0 value for any monk than healer monk? why are they even in the class tree and why have they been there for so long? Does blizzard not have data that no monks are choosing these options at all?
What happened to the âexciting node at the end of the treeâ and donât even get me started on wind walkers spec capstones because let me tell you there are still PLACEHOLDER CAPSTONES at the end of the spec tree that have ZERO DAMAGE OR UTILITY VALUE
I have played the game since 2007. I have played windwalker since its inception in MoP. I may have not mained it until Legion, but I always played it. When they gutted windwalker before the first raid tier started in WoD because our damage was too high in 5-man heroic dungeons I immediately realized that Blizzard created the spec and then abandoned it.
Every expansion aside from Antorus, my favorite spec in the game has been a mockery, and the only reason it was as good as it was in Antorus was because of our incredibly powerful 2set combined with our legendary helmet. At a base, the spec was still weak. It just had help from borrowed power.
Likewise, in Battle for Azeroth. Our baseline was incredibly weak, but azerite traits made our AoE was people think windwalker actually is today. People for some reason remember BfA and think âTheir ST is bad, but theyâre amazing in dungeons!â but that was entirely due to how much stronger Open Palm Strikes and Dance of Chi-ji were as traits, compared to talents.
Likewise in Shadowlands. Our ST damage was still bad, but our AoE damage was better because of Calculated Strikes. That conduit singlehandedly carried our AoE damage, and if we at any point took it off, the classâs pathetic baseline reared its ugly head.
Finally, when Blizzard said no borrowed power this expansion, I was hopeful. Excited, even. âSurely that means theyâll make our baseline good, right?â âSurely theyâll make Calculated Strikes a talent?â âSurely Open Palm Strikes will be like the azerite trait version?â But none of those things came true. Blizzard took away all of the borrowed power that actually made Windwalker competitive in AoE, and any of it they turned into talents was so heavily watered down itâs insulting.
Itâs been clear to me for years that Blizzard does not care about this spec for whatever reason, but Iâm finally at my wits end. If a severe rework does not come with 11.0 (as I do not expect them to even sneeze on Windwalker for season 4) then Iâm going to have to main swap at last. Especially now that the things keeping me from swapping (rep, dungeon teleports) are going to become account-wide thanks to Warbands.
Fists of fury should be like fel barrage. The more Chi and energy you spend WHEN YOU PRESS IT the more hits you dish out. No channel, you can still use other abilities.
This or they should at least pump the numbers on the attack if they are going to lock you out of doing other moves.
Worst part for me is Iâm alt tank this season I love tanking on BRM but man do I need WW practice if I want to not feel like Iâm an issue as we prog. I feel like I have to hit twice as many buttons to do half the damage my feral does. Not to mention comparing it to something like BM or Augvoker which were the last two raid tiers for me.
