Windwalker is Looking Incredibly Doomed for 10.2

Is WWbetter off in m+ than in a raid environment? Or is WW considered bad for m+ too?)

I did some 16-17s today to play with the tier, it seemed like it was best to just pump out as many FoF as possible by optimizing RSK critical strikes and using blackout kick over spinning crane kick in most scenarios

I don’t have much haste gear only around 19% but I think it would feel even better with around 30% haste

Some general principles:

-use sky touch on a new target only when FoF can be used on them (make sure clones tunnel the sky touch target

-land rising Sun kick either directly after FoF or when skytouch is available and you have 5 seconds remaining on FoF (best scenario is skytouch thunderfist rising Sun kick (resetting FoF) FoF BOK (resetting RSK) → RSK — with blackout reinforcement procs I could occasionally reset FoF in a single skytouch window through RSK crits and resets

-using Faeline optimally to apply debuff every 10s to maximize uptime, preferably before skytouch or FoF

-To me, I saw the biggest shift in damage from taking SEF over serenity, as simply put it is a larger damage bonus that lasts longer and occurs more frequently

-a general rule of thumb is to not cap SEF But have it ready for xuen, otherwise use it on a skytouch that you also have thunderfist and generally try to fixate the clones on your current skytouch

-otherwise, I found that blackout kick as a filler is more efficient than SCK except with Dance of Chi Ji, as you get slightly more damage per chi due to reinforcement and I suspect that even dance might not be best at high enough haste to just really blackout kick away

Anyways, maybe this tier is more about pressing your buttons faster to use your chi spenders quicker and fit more of them in every SEF window really pressing in to the CDR with baseline haste? Anyone trying something like this?

There’s nothing we bring to m+ that other specs don’t and they also do significantly more damage effortlessly.

We do not deal damage, we have no unique utility, no ranged battle res, no lust. We’re worse off in M+ than we are in raid.

I have a hard time believing FLS is anywhere near as good as it appears on paper in Raid. There are a couple fights but those require limited movement of both the boss and/or the dps.

I have to wonder how many of those details the devs know/understand. Like if they see a few monks doing a lot of damage do they know it requires a lot of very strange gameplay to pull off?

Do they know outside of cooldowns and procs WW isn’t doing much?

Monk dev is just a chatGPT ai. It seems like every tier set/patch has something focused around our AA’s that they have to create/rework. It’s also astounding the radio silence they give us on their thoughts about our class. If there was a dev who legitimately cared I feel there would be more communication about the expectation of our class and the direction they want to see it proceed in. Seeing the new animations for FLS make me really want to put this class down as it probably means they are going to keep us in our detention box for ST for many years to come.

I have not but I might give it a roll later … still that means I need to acquire some haste gear .

Something I’ve been meaning to do to gear my MW better anyway

I haven’t seen any WW monk at all. not in LFR or normal pug heck even m+. Well maybe less than a handfull of times. It feels bad.

This is insulting to chatGPT. At least you can have a conversation with it and it gradually learns and improves. This is clearly not the case with how WW/monk in general has been handled. We’ve literally put hundreds if not thousands of suggestions and requests and have gotten nothing.

This had me loling. But also thinking… Yang is not wrong.

I got a chance to experiment with this with some good’ish results. Seemingly a damage increase … I like the feeling of haste … and it seems to do pretty well with SEF. haven’t really experimented with serenity with it. I’d imagine I can pack in more chi spenders which might be good.

Can’t tell if the damage increases is just because of the 6% buff or because of this. I’d eventually fall down to around 100k dps typically and I have been doing about 120k with this build.

I just did my first key as a WW and holy hell. I just wanted to stop playing. The rotation for dpsing just feels terrible. It feels like the tier is nothing but CDR and thats ALL the devs could think of?

I think the skillcap is just way too high right now so it will feel atrocious for many players.

And even when played nearly perfect the damage is mediocre lol

Yeah its not a simple rotation which would be fine with a huge payoff, but for most players the effort of the rotation and knowing when to do what just isn’t worth the payoff they see. Especially when 2 of the top dps have super simple rotations with huge payouts even if you aren’t playing super optimally

The prophecy of Fartline Stomp has been fulfilled. For the record, this would be a treatment:

You want red? Pick red.

Just wanted to add how awkward the new tier bonus is due to a bug with it. Essentially, if you have the Blackout Reinforcement Buff active and then proc the buff again from the RNG auto attack proc, the buff is overridden and because the buff technically went away, you proc the CDR aspect of the tier just randomly.

So you could have a proc, send Fists of Fury, the tier procs randomly mid channel and your other abilities just lose cooldown. So if anyone has noticed random bits of cdr happening without pressing BoK, that is why.

Now in most scenarios that honestly isn’t too bad, but I’ve recently started progging Tindral, and on that fight you run Whirling Dragon Punch for extra root damage alongside Fury of Xuen losing its stacks when you do the dragonflight. The timing on these roots is rather precise, and with WDP requiring both FoF and RSK down, this random CDR happening feels incredibly toxic. I could send both abilities in preparation for roots, and then I could accidentally proc my tier bonus outside of my control and have RSK come back up. This means I can’t cast WDP anymore and have to dump more GCDs to get it back, but most of the time, the roots are dead by the time I have WDP back up, essentially just killing my damage for the pull.

Just such an unintuitive and unfun tier bonus to play around.

I don’t think toxic means what you think it means.

Is that not the definition of a toxic game play loop? You play optimally and instead of being rewarded you can be punished for getting an RNG proc that you cannot control. Causing the set up you planned for to be completely wasted.

Honestly thought I was schizophrenic at a certain point trying to understand why I was getting CDR from nothing or why my BRI WA would flash for a second, this makes sense why my CDs just pop up randomly though.

Dude that’s awesome, I can usually do that or greater as well. Looking at that single number gets you all excited…… until you see any other class spec above you by 30-40k if not more

Then you feel like horse dung. Fun fact monk and demon hunter tanks can pull those same numbers

I just tried several different talent trees and builds. TOD no TOD, Faeline, even Bonedust and chi whirlwind. Everything feels terrible no matter how I build. I am honestly trying and I’m pulling 200k average overall in my keys right now. I’m nearly at 2.8k IO, not a massive ton but not that little either so I feel like I know the class.

I truly love playing WW, or at least I did. I canceled my sub, as long as WW stays this broken I feel like I’m just punishing myself for the sake of playing.
