You can Google WoW sub estimates 2022 right now and have a litany of various speculative estimates if you’d like. I don’t care what the number is, this is just a dumb tangent that is sidestepping your and my initial point. Pick any estimate you’d like, because the number is dwarfed by WotLK era.

There’s plenty of websites that extrapolate metrics based on reddit/armory, etc. None of them show WoW near the top. Even if they are wildly off, it would still take a small miracle for WoW to somehow still be the top.
Seriously, your head is beyond in the sand. Your entire body is currently three feet under and you can’t even hear the waves if you think WoW is still the #1 MMO by active subs. My realm is completely dead right now. My guild disbanded and went to FF. All the steamers are gone. We’re in a WoD level content drought. Do you need hard data to confirm that the sky is blue?

Nobody can seem to get new MMOs right. Probably try it but my expectations for new MMOs are basically in the basement in a dusty box on a forgotten shelf with all the shattered hopes of previous releases.
I will try it out. Competition is good. I might want to main a non-mage class for once but we’ll see. Champions I have played that come to mind are Irelia (dancing swords baby and Q ability sounds) for melee fighter and MF for marksman (the strut and the laugh).
Napkin math is a totally valid way of reasoning. Software engineers study from first principles thinking and napkin math to make estimates all the time based on guesstimated quantities. Your understanding of deductive reasoning is very weak.

Don’t imply competitors haven’t siphoned away players from WoW over the years. Your are the genesis of this disagreement and have shifted the topic to legitimacy of sub estimates on your own. No one can know the exact data outside of Blizzard, and even if I were interested (which I’m not) in putting source after source in front of you, it won’t be considered because the only evidence you will accept is a hard number from Blizzard’s internal player metrics. That thing they deliberately obfuscate since MoP to hide that player counts were dropping off.

Riot games tends to have very toxic communities, worse than Blizzard. Playing a themepark MMORPG with that community sounds miserable.
Also, the game will probably make a lot of room to e-sport because it’s Riot, and that’s one of the things I think is ruining WoW.
Then there’s the fact that Riot is 100% owned by Tencent. They’re even worse than NCsoft.
