Will it become a dedicated forever wotlk server like the classic era, or will it auto transition to cataclysm eventually? I personally think wotlk is the greatest wow version ever, and would love to see it remain in the forever form.
I would love to see a season of mastery for wotlk - the end progression is very linear, with little barrier to entry that allows more re-replay-ability for the average person that classic and tbc don’t allow.
Personally, I hope it starts over with vanilla with world buffs disabled in instances. Would probably give Cataclysm a shot though.
Fairly certain this classic stuff is going to end on Wrath.
I think most original wow players would also agree the classic portion of wow online saga ends with wotlk, anything afterwards is too much retail for most people. That will be a good reason to make wotlk a permanent forever game. You have the beginning forever of classic and the final end of the classic.
I’d like to see all three as one and all realms merged into one for pvp, one for pve, and one each for RP (pvp and pve). Pipe dream though. Can only hope.
If they retire wotlk, I’m out because I know there’s nothing good to come
By the time Wrath wraps up, we all better come together and beg for at least an Era realm.
My (hopeful) line of thinking is that they’re planning to have Vanilla, Wrath, and Pandaria Classic clients. Whatever they decide to do with “Classic” after that I don’t give a hoot
Reasoning: With the Vanilla client, you have access to the oldest version of the game and all that entails, with the original version of Naxxramas, things like Atiesh and the Ashbringer, etc. The reason TBC did not get a client is because it on its own isn’t quite as popular as future expansions, and you aren’t missing anything from it you wouldn’t find in Wrath Classic. A theoretical “Burning Crusade Classic” is just as viable by exp locking yourself at level 70
Likewise, Wrath of the Lich King was the most popular expansion in the game’s lifespan (whether that remains true of course we’ll see in the coming months with Wrath Classic). It also provides the most balanced and up-to-date version of the old world, where you can still viably experience Vanilla, TBC, and Wrath itself as you like. Due to this, I can see Wrath possibly receiving its own client when Classic eventually decides to move forward, assuming that it does
With the assumption that Classic will be moving forward to Cataclysm, I highly doubt it would get its own client - the drop-off in popularity speaks for itself. Rather, I expect it will more or less amount to just a stepping stone to Pandaria, similar to how TBC Classic wound up being that toward Wrath. Pandaria, on the other hand, represents basically the final “evolution” of the Classic experience, before Warlords of Draenor essentially changed how the entire game functioned on a fundamental level.
tl;dr: While I expect (read: hope) Classic will at least extend as far as Pandaria, I would be very, very surprised if Wrath didn’t get its own client
The only expansion I ever really wanted to play again was WotLK. It’s the pinnacle of WoW and obviously should have perma servers for it to enjoy forever.
People have this dream of Classic ending at MoP. But to get to MoP, you have to go through the nightmare known as Cataclysm.
Eh, it’s not that bad, certainly not as bad compared to Retail now. Especially if they do maintain a Wrath Classic client in the meantime
Or hell, they could just skip Cataclysm outright
I’m fine with them keeping servers for wotlk only, but for some people their “classic” experience was cataclysm and MoP. It’s a nostalgic time for them and they should be able to experience it just as people who played classic/tbc/wotlk did.
There’s no problem for everyone to be happy. Im also all for a different story line ending with wrath that may open up a wotlk+ type of experience.
You’ll probably see:
- TBC SoM
- WotLK eternal servers (2-4, maybe)
- Cataclysm Classic with no Azeroth flight (for the Classicification of Cata, you see)
I think wotlk may have been the expansion where the transition of old generation to the new generation of wow players was taking place. The old generation at this point was torn between wow gaming vs job vs family life.lol
Personally I hope they go the route that classic did moving into tbc. Let me have my characters on a forever wotlk. If you do Cata, dupe me there too.
Force wotlk to end like TBC is and I’ll probably quit after wrath. I wouldn’t stay on a TBC forever realm but it really sucks for those that would.
Congrats, you win the dumbest thing I’ve read on the internet today award.
Wrath classes and talents are dramatically different from TBC.
Have you raided SWP at all in pre-patch? It is a joke on par with retail’s LFR in difficulty.
Well they completely erased TBC. I’m not getting my hopes up for anything.
Classic with updated spell effects, character models, better talents for garbage specs to make them viable, and bosses with ddr abilities
Oh hey the troll is still around, I thought you would’ve been forum banned by now
Go on, let’s see you dance more, it’s fun
