For example, I grinded out the Silver Covenant Hippogryph back when WoTLK Classic was current and would love to add that mount to my Retail collection.

That’s disappointing. One of the reasons I am dropping Classic is because I don’t want my collections to be split.
I don’t know to be honest… MoP will be the make or break it I think. Once you reintroduce transmog you really do open up everything.
Personally I would prefer each expansion having its own server and if you complete a challenge with its intended difficulty with its intended load out you earn the reward from it account wide.
Still that is just me and my opinion.

While I have no interest in playing classic, account wide rewards like you are describing would probably be the only way to convince me.

I think there is an argument to be made for prestige servers. When classic was out I didn’t want account wide rewards because I understood how that would warp the game. Some random green would likely be worth more gold then a max level drop simply because that item was removed from live ( Almost all of these were readded with the zg and naxx update).
Now that the dust settled though… why not let people earn rewards they might not of even been born when originally obtainable?

That’s dramatic - not everything needs to be cosmically “fair”, and people don’t need to collect everything in the game. It’s okay for players to have tokens of events past others don’t have.
Yeah but if those events/achievements are repeated what is the harm in allowing them to use their rewards in both versions of the game?

They obviously don’t care about “diminishing the rewards that players earned years ago” with the release of the $90 Brutosaur. You can’t be serious with that argument.

Introducing something new =/= copying and distributing old rewards.
Blizz has put effort into providing players alternatives…Paladins have Corrupted Ashbringer type designs with the Legion artifacts, and the MoP CM armors were recolored and altered slightly and made available in Legion Class Halls as examples.
They’ve struck a good middle ground with these offerings in the past. It’s possible similar or reskinned rewards could be added that offer the same experience with a new reward.

So, what is the solution for someone like me who wants to complete their Hippogryph mount collection in retail? I’m not spending another month grinding out rep/tokens for them. Do I get a fancy new reskinned version only available for people who did it in the Classic Relaunch to use in Retail?
Probably not, because Classic is just another progressive version of the game. It will become retail eventually, just a few years behind.
MOP Classic is pretty much confirmed to be coming out, and I don’t think it’ll stop there. Enjoy WOD Classic in 2027-28.

I would be OK with some… but not all.
They would have had to state that from the start when classic launched.
Well there are certain things that straight up arent in the game anymore… like the naxx 60 set.
I wish i could have those shoulders SO BAD on my warrior.
They’d run into an issue, since plenty of those items are now unobtainable in classic as well.
