Will I Lose Forum Access On This Character?

I hope this is the right section in the forums to pose this question. This character is my main forum poster and is level 19. When Shadowlands launches, this character will be dropped to level 9. Does this mean that my character will be removed from the database and unable to post on the forums like any other sub-level 10 character?

That is a good question, Sunadice. Let me see if I can find out and I’ll update this thread once I do.

Alright.

So, access to the forums is primarily based on the character’s Armory profile. Characters under level 10 do not show up on the Armory, which means you cannot use them to post.

The squish is a bit of a unique situation, so characters that were over level 10 prior to the squish should retain access but new characters will need to reach level 10 post-squish in order to post.

Impact to Low-Level Characters

In addition, characters typically are not available to the Character API (or on the WoW Community Website) until they reach level 10. When the level cap adjustment takes place, this will cause characters previously level 10-20 to be adjusted to 5-10. In these situations, the character data will still be available in the API so as not to break existing functionality, but those characters will no longer be updated until they again reach level 10. If you hear or notice complaints about character data not updating, we suggest first checking whether the character has leveled to at least 10 in Shadowlands.
