Will Classic be a dead game before phase 2

Was that info released too?

Did I miss something else?

It was in one of the Ion interviews… the timeline is 3 months between each phase

  • Unarmored Mounts

While I would like to see unarmored mounts too for those who want them (I am Undead so it will be of no difference to me personally), I do not think that it is a major issue that will cause players to quit over. Those wanting it will be upset, yes, but not to the point of quitting.

  • Alterac Valley

I do believe that Alterac Valley has the potential to cause players to quit. The reason being is they (and I, don’t get me wrong I am biased here) want a version that shouts vanilla in the truest form. Just because it was changed in a later patch for the worst, does not make it truer to the vanilla cause. It actually reduces the amount of potential content in the game. Why join a AV that might only take 30 minutes or less? It feels like a one-off thing. It doesn’t shout EPIC.

  • 10 Servers on release day

Did they say how many servers? I don’t think they will be as unconnected from the player-base as to release only 10 servers. I could be wrong though, the most recent expansions particularly Ion makes a lot of bad decisions.

The other points I either agree with (biggest one being layering at the moment) or are what makes the game vanilla (i.e. the combat and no battlegrounds at launch).

Most accurate answer you’re going to see on this entire thread: Maybe

YOu do realize it is a stress test right now and not final release.

THey are seeing if things like layering will work or not . It may or not make it to release.

Retail will have close to zero impact on anything related to Classic, hardly anyone plays it and the larger portion of people interested in Classic don’t play or haven’t played retail in years.

Judging from the beta people got bored pretty quickly after they got to level cap. I know there is a lot more to do at the 60 end game but people are going to get done with that quickly as well and then I think things will die down by Jan or until the next phase. Also, lots of other new games coming out later this year as well so people will be spending their time on those too.

“the game is easier than I remember!!!”

Yup. Probably because we’re using the 1.12 tuning - not the weird tuning, fixing of skills, buffing things and in general nearly 2 years of vanilla to create the Naxxramas/1.12(1.13) patch makes it a lot faster to level.

Being level capped at L30 then 40 really hinders what the “game will be like” because we dont have raiding, the higher end instances, high end farming etc.

The game will be fine.

Your doomsday posts are not appreciated.

Where is your source on this?

I remember seeing a Q and A where Ion said phase one was essentially just to stabilise server pops. Phase 2 being such a small phase (world bosses + dire maul) will be out very quickly.

He also said there is no timeline for phases and they will do what feels right and to some extent listen to the community. 3 months sound about right from AQ to Naxx for example but 6 months of BWL from phase 3 to 5 (for AQ) is insane.

I would guess around 2 months from phase 3 to 4 with a total of 4 months of BWL.

Ultimately the more QQ the community does the quicker it advances.

so this person in the EU is mad because they gave them regional servers and not specific geographical to their nations servers?

I mean.

“OH NO EVERYBODY JUMPED SHIP” is kind of a large assumption to make.

ALSO, you’re promoting your own thread. I mean…

c’mon.

they said the GAME was going to be as few changes and as authentic as they can make it. Just because they didnt give a dedicated german/french/spanish servers doesnt mean the GAME ITSELF is not authentic. I mean. Son of a…

Short answer; No.
Long answer; Lol, no.

The Announcment thread in the EU Forums exploded. More Comments in a few hours then in any other Thread. There are 20 threads opened like “Delete you subscription now”; “we are working on german private servers” and so on.

Thousands are disappointed. And the Announcment is only 10 hours old.

A perfect example why blizz should ignore the forums even more. Out of touch nonsense that only the whiniest 1% care about.

You don’t care about being 1 shot by a latency glitching shaman, or being able to strafe left and right, people getting AGM trinket in 1 day shard hopping,… pets not responding to commands…???

Those are all assumptions that layering on the beta will be working the same way on retail realms, and AGM? Rofl, oh no, not AGM trinket.

How are complaints about bugs (many of which have been in the beta since the start), unrestricted layering abuse, and mediocre spell batching implementation something only the “whiniest 1%” care about?

Maybe my english is not good enough to get it to the point. The Social Aspect is one of the Cores of WoW Classic. Retail is like a big city where noone knows the others. Vanilla was like a village.
On international Servers for the EU, you cant really help questing, you cant make a raid with 7 different languages, the trade channel is broken. And there are sooooo much players who cant speak a bit english. You cant small talk, you cant use sarcasm.

This Change shakes the base of the game for a whole Continent!

Layering doesn’t exist on modern realms, and you can swap layers with ease.

I predicted the server thing when layering was announced. Though I estimated 8 servers because I didn’t know russia would get its own servers.

  • NA - PVP PVE RP
  • EU - PVP PVE RP
  • AU- PVP PVE
    and now
  • RU - PVP PVE (RP?)

Layering lets them shove as many people onto servers as they want, then when the tourists leave they’ll split the servers. It allows them to avoid server mergers, which have a negative connotation, and it lets them spin the new servers in the press as evidence that “the game was way more popular than they could have imagined”.
