Will Cataclysm be Dead on Arrival?

Depends on what you want to do. If you play lock, for example, cata destro was probably the worst designed spec in the history of the game. For pvp you pretty much have to be a human as the every man for himself racial was at it’s peak with the firelands trinkets. Cata zones and the new races were pretty cool though.

no one is preaching that, its 1 person on 10 alts, on grobbulus that spams the same crap in trade chat, because they are mentally ill.

the community is not on the forums, they are on twitter, twitch, youtube, b net forums is where out of touch boomers that live under a rock post, i come here because it’s comedy

don’t listen to people on here, Cata is popular in EU and NA, all the cata pack sales prove that. Salty vanilla no changes kids are the minority.

vanilla only people are just not very healthy, and are less than 1% of the classic wow population, they spam all day every day about how they hate cata, it’s cringe.

I would disagree. The end raid and how a expansion would age would determine the outcome. Vanilla, tbc, wrath, mop(according to friends), and legion(based on what was read) might all be subjects as the endstate of cata and wod are lacking. Sod is nice unlike cata there is more to do than raid log.

The evaluation of if an expansion ages well depends on how cool the endraids are, the coolness of gear for the expansion and a bit of the atmosphere. Wrath is not the only viable expansion which ages well as a perm era.

Objectively false but ok. Nice try tho

you can get runes, rank, prequest and level. The world is full of quests which are technically do-able at 40, and have rewards to match so it does have more things to do than raid log. So you are wrong as usual about me being wrong.

You can do that stuff in Cata, too. Except runes, but there’s plenty of other things to do. Achievements by themselves give players a ton of things to do. Transmog is in Cata as well.

I do look forward to mop-prequesting, in cata, I mean friends say that mop wasn’t ested til legion.

People do that. Some people are already prequesting now in wrath for cata.
You not doing stuff doesnt mean its not there.
In sod I could also just raidlog.

Cataclysm will be fine. Even if Blizz has to do server merges, there will be more than enough people playing the game.

Wrath being the pinnacle of WoW is just pure opinion.

yes, if you can get a dk on a low pop server, when they merge hey free 55 starter.

Between sod 60 coming out and the new retail expansion I’d be surprised if the population doesn’t just crater for cata

Being a bad expansions sure as hell doesn’t help I just hope we get mop still

A lot of the people still playing in my experience seem to be pretty interested in Cata

What are you talking about? Cata retained 10million subscriptions, only dipping for a patch due to content drought and regaining that number in the pre-patch to MOP, you’re going to talk trash at least be accurate.

In my opinion, Cata is one of the top expansions. Then again, I’m a casual who doesn’t raid and only does the occasional dungeon.

(from what I’ve seen, other than ‘ruining’ the old world most people have a problem with the dungeons & raids)

I honestly thought quest writing was overall way better, especially the added quests in old-world areas. They added more life to the game for me. Plus, I really enjoyed all of the QoL.

I definitely wouldn’t mind seeing Pandaria again, I’m just glad we’re getting Cata. I just hope it’s relatively close to how it was & maybe fix the raids & dungeons for people who like those.

Objectively the revamped zones were just straight up better from a game design and player experience point of view.
Issue I’m having is that the “new zones” are longer in the game than the “old zones”. Time to get a new revamp in Retail.

I think most don’t mind. Classic just have literal racists

You’re being sarcastic, right? Please tell me you’re being sarcastic. Cataclysm is almost unanimously hated among the WoW community as the beginning of the end of the good days. The only people who unironically think Cataclysm was good were the people who didn’t start playing until Cataclysm. For those of us who experienced the previous 3 best versions of the game, Cataclysm was literally a cataclysm; the beginning of the end.

Nope

Last time I checked Cata didn’t release Pandas. it was about Pandaria.
Cata was the opposite of MoP - It had barely any hate initially, but people were unhappy with how the expansion went and Dragon soul.

Oh man sod 60, vanilla era, and maybe a tbc era possibly think we will be in sod50 for about half of cata which still should be a good thing to do. Even so, sod 50 does have some great dungeons like st, zf, and brd(prison part). You a char ready for mop?

They also announced that MC will be a 20 man raid at level 50.

Raid Size at level 60

Recently a hot topic of debate is the raid size at level 60 and we’ve been watching the commentary on this closely. To help quell confusion, here’s a look at exactly what to expect in the net few phases in terms of raid size:

  • The yet-to-be-announced level 50 raid will be a 20 player experience
  • Molten Core will also be a 20 player experience in Season of Discovery
