General: LFM insert elite quest
Get whisper: “im on that quest” invites person
General: LFM insert same elite quest
Get whisper: “me” invites person
Meet up at quest but he was just killed by another group
Party chat: “that sucks I guess we wait” makes some small talk
We kill quest enemy then thank each other for the help.
I had this interaction in classic just the other day.
This is not the first time I have listen to the arguments regarding MMORPG from both sides. The defintion does not say you have to group up with others, just that there are others playing online and there are. Whether a person groups up or not is their choice. This debate has been going when I was on SWG, then to SWTOR and here as well.
We have people wanting to blame the company but the last time I checked on SWTOR and here the choice to group up is a personal choice for each person to make. I have played in groups before but I choose who I group up with and that doesn’t seem to be good enough for others. They seem to think they should be able to tell you who you should group up with. The only problem I see is this kind of attitude hurts the community and maybe that is why people are not grouping.
Maybe people like to choose who they want to group up with and there are some they would not group up no matter what the reward is. Attitudes have a lot to do with people wanting to group up and if you behave in game as you do on the forums no wonder people don’t group up.
Realm pop doesn’t give a lot of details needed. I have 20+ max level Alliance Characters, all of them are counted separately by realmpop. I’m one person with 3 active acconts, and because of my disabilities I don’t go outside much, I spend my time leveling new characters.
I’m not the only one. Now when you look at the list of Top Raiding guilds, and the who’s who in PVP most if not all are Horde. When you look at gearing on 120’s ie from Raider io, most of the top players are all Horde. When you enter into any activity Alliance side, it’s almost always empty, takes 4 hours most days to get LFR on the Alliance. Takes 1 hour for leveling dungeon finders. Horde side, cut those numbers by a lot, sadly PVP queues Horde side are terrible, but that’s mainly the lack of Alliance players doing the Queue. Which is why Battle grounds these days are usually Blue Horde vs Red Horde.
You’re delusional, just because you WANT it to be doesn’t mean it is. It’s a single-player game with OPTIONAL multi-player functionality built into it.
There’s virtually no point in insulting Live, and that’s part of why I’m not fond of the Classic community. All throughout this thread is just “it’s not a real RPG” and putting down anyone that enjoys it still.
WoW is an MMORPG, regardless of what the OP or any of the Classic fans say it is. Just because you don’t like something does not mean you get to dictate what it is.
Now, to address what was asked:
There are parts of Classic I would like to see returned. I found the talent trees a little more interesting, and visiting the trainers was fun. I also liked the class quests and the involved hunter-pet relationship. And I’d be happier with a more dangerous world, something I’ve been vying for for years.
What I don’t want is a return of one dimensional classes, boring raids, low drop rates on quests, long running through open, empty zones, and horrific looking armor.
A return to MoP with a couple more modern and old elements would be incredible. MoP was one of if not the best expansion they have ever released, and it sets a good foundation to be built upon rather than demolished like what they did going into WOD.
I do not disagree that generally speaking Horde side has a bigger population of high end content players. I mean, look at the Halls of Fame on this very site, it’s dominated by Horde players.
I do not agree with the idea that that equals a barren wasteland on the Alliance side.
And that is what you inferred. You are giving anecdotal observations of your experience, and treating that as fact. The info on that website, while not perfect, disputes your “facts”.
The only reason that even happened was because I met people IN THE GAME when the game was still an MMORPG and they taught me and we would go in front of Orgimmar and team up and hunt down the Alliance. Today, those experiences will never happen because those opportunities will never be presented to new players due to the fact that from Day 1 they walk the world alone. My experiences were all tied to other players and how they helped me learn and grow through our time playing.
I can get the same if not similar experience for grouping up on an elite world quest with party finder. You’d just have to stick your neck out there and say something first.
Heck, even people that go “first time here” in dungeon groups is enough to get directions in what to do.
People outside of groups during elite world quests sometimes have the courtesy to say “thanks” every once in a while.
I think your expectation of people is a little bit too high.
Then play Alliance side. Unless you are on one of the few servers where the Alliance still maintains an active community ie Moonguard, it’s all empty, and has been for a few years.
Duh. Always has been a solo player friendly game for the most part. It always had a lot of content that requires you to group for also. So what is your point besides being another Chatty Cathy doll that says the same things over when you pull the string on its back? How is your thread any different from all the other spammed ones that are basically spewing the same things? And you are not fooling anyone by leaving the classic out of the thread title lol.
Love to see the rpg element return… not convinced 2 weeks of classic success is enough to spark change though. Maybe if the hype keeps up for a few years… maybe in time for 10.2…
