I came to WoW from Everquest in 2008 and at that time WoW (Lich King) did still feel like an MMORPG. I was coming from a hardcore MMORPG and and from being in a full-time raid guild so the bar was set pretty high with my expectations for WoW. While not difficult with the grinds and raids that didn’t affect WoW being a true MMORPG in my mind, it just felt easier or faster, however you want to describe it.
In your opinion, will Blizzard ever bring Retail WoW full-circle into being an MMORPG again?
LFR was introduced to allow everyone to see the raid content. Before this only the top % of player base could see the raid. Wasting resources for on a small amount of the player base is stupid.
This is only true so far and no different from Vanilla. If you want to run a dungeon, do a raid, do pvp, then this statement isn’t applicable. If you want to group up to do quests or do them solo, then you can very well do that in any version of the game. You’ll never reach what’s considered “endgame content” playing by yourself.
Yes retailers…no one is threatening to take away your transmog or mount collecting. We’re talking about immersive leveling that poses some challenge. A need to work together to accomplish things. Classes that might have weaknesses to offset their strengths. Heaven forbid maybe they would tone down ae and out some
Skill checks into instances.
But most likely they won’t. They want to keep the game “accessible” .
I’m sorry to say but when you want the maximum number of players experiencing the content that took a lot of time and money to create then this is sort of unavoidable. Maximizing profits and all that. Even (yes I’ll concede) to the detriment of the game.
