I soloed to level cap at least 4 times in Vanilla. Multiplayer content outside of instances has been optional since the game launched.
I did this 5 times in Vanilla. So, yeah it is a single player game with optional multi-player gameplay.
Plus, we all know Vanilla was a bit harder than Classic is.
I didnât realize I was posting on my DH. Same DH just different character.
Thatâs about the lowest form of interaction Iâve heard ofâŚ
The majority of Vanilla was leveling content, and it was soloable.
Are you crying in laughter because people are dumb enough to believe Vanilla didnât cater to solo casuals?
There were TONS of elite quests that you couldnât solo in classic. You CAN do the single player thing in classic or any iteration of wow but what a miserable experience. Why not play single player games? You can actually get the best of the best in those and never have to interact with a single person.
I know, I have a lvl 30 Hunter there. I know Classic is an MMORPG for sure and itâs from the Golden age of MMORPGS with EverCrack and Dark Age of Camelot both I played as well. In both of those games you constantly interact with people by design and thatâs, unfortunately, not what Retail is anymore but I really wish it was. I donât hate Retail WoW I want it to be the best it can be. Iâve had my Hunter for 11-years and I hate to see me abandoning it just because the game has switched to an entirely different genre. All they need to do is bring Retail back to its roots somehow. Remove the âoptionalâ part of game-play when it comes to people interaction in the world. Throw everyone in one big world next expansion and remove all the game crutches and conveniences and see how things turn outâŚI bet that madness would be amazing and fun and it would bring WoW Retail back into being a true MMORPG again.
I like seeing other people. While Iâm in the open world of the game.
A single player game will give you the exact same experience.
How and which games?
This would not be itâs roots⌠WoW has always been a single playerâs game with the option to group up.
If you want to group up makes some friends and do it doesnât matter if its Classic or Retail.
It is a true MMORPG there is nothing untrue about it.
Edit: If I had to group to get everything in game accomplished⌠I would quit the game.
Retail WOW is a MMORPG. Just because there are elements you donât like doesnât mean that it doesnât exactly fit the definition. It does. Iâm not fond of BFA either, but what kind of game it is isnât an issue.
Happens all through the game. What definition of âinteractâ are you using?
Thatâs on the player-base. If itâs not doing that for you, what are you doing in-game to promote it? You donât have to play WoW solo. You can group to do content.
What amazes me is the number of players that feel that Blizzard has to do things to promote the social aspect in-game. If the majority of the player-base were interested in that aspect, it would be more prevalent in-game. Thereâs nothing stopping players from being more âMMORPGâ except the players.
Its like thereâs many ways to gear upâŚhmmmmmm
Raiding and mythic still are the fastest.
You canât do a lot of BFA content without conversing with people.
Retail is an MMORPG. If you donât like retailâs flavor, waddle your sad behind over to Classic and make it happy.
Technically it still is, however most RPGs (besides WOW and D3) have more than just Leveling and Gear upgrades, they give player agency to how you level, and what powers you get, with a thing normally called a leveling Tree, and as a side part skill upgrades by using the skill.
Back long ago WoW had proper Leveling trees, which allowed a massive amount of player flexibility, this was removed with a lesser system which we have today which doesnât really give you player choice.
Gone are the days of Unholy and Frost DKs being top DPS as Tanks while holding the Aggro, gone are the Days of unkillable warlocks cursing and draining everyone and everything. Gone are the days when a Cat Druid could Tank while casting spells and heals, and being top of the Meters. Once long ago people could make crazy combo specs which were insanely good. Now we live in a uniform era of every Destro Warlock is the same, every Unholy DK is the same, every mage is either Fire or Frost.
Unique builds and personal choices have been removed for cookie cutter classes without any of their iconic abilities. Whenâs the last time a Pali seal/Judged someone? Choices matter, in a RPG. WoW removed all the class choices, and forced us to play the same thing as everyone else. They did it in the name of Balance, but honestly itâs because they were just lazy.
I agree that itâs fixable and thereâs nothing wrong with them looking towards Classic for some of the possible answers. (assuming) Nobody here wants Retail to fail outright I bet when thereâs an option that they could be repaired. People have years, and some over a decade, of their life invested in WoW and they would like that to be a worthwhile investment. Yes, Iâm putting words in everyoneâs mouths saying that!
And they were 100% skippable.
I came to WoW with friends and most of those friends drifted off and I stayed. I do not run group content because of my experience with WoW players in Vanilla. The behavior of other players in group content turned me off. So, solo WoW experience for me, thanks.
Players who demand constant interaction and company in the lowest-of-low WoW content donât come off as âsocial,â they come off as needy.
I donât need to play those games. Iâm playing this game.
You donât know everyoneâs experience only your ownâŚ
Take your pick. All are filled with NPCs that will give you the exact same level of interaction as youâre doing now.
Unless you were a Warlock, and knew how to play a Warlock properly. Soloâd Hogger at the proper level, because I am a Vanilla era Warlock and can manage pet on one target, fear one target, and DPS the third.
I know how to yoyo an Elite area boss with dots, fears, and pets. Doing the Job of three as one person.
