Will Blizzard turn Retail WoW in the direction of being an MMORPG again?

Unfortunately no, it’s not an opinion. At all. Some people just don’t understand what RP is anymore.

Pizza Rolls are garbage. It’s a fact. Not an opinion. Some people just like garbage.

I see no raid progression nor mythic plus so I could see how you would think that

How did you get honor level 33 solo though. That is impressive

You can get raid level geared and not even have to group up with anyone. Wow became a single player game with the option to group up.

The vast majority of RPG elements have been tossed to the side in favor of convenience. Class trainers aren’t a thing, reagents aren’t a thing, weapon skills aren’t a thing…slowly over the years wow turned itself into a streamlined convenience filled action game.

Awesome points. I think they miss the spirit of an MMORPG being multi-player.

Definitions of MMORPG with the important point highlighted:

Mmorpg definition , massively multiplayer online role-playing game: any story-driven online video game in which a player, taking on the persona of a character in a virtual or fantasy world, interacts with a large number of other players.

Massively multiplayer online role-playing games ( MMORPGs ) are a combination of role-playing video games and massively multiplayer online games in which a very large number of players interact with one another within a virtual world.

MMORPG or MMO is short for massively multiplayer online role-playing game.It is a video game genre in which thousands of people play together in an online world. In the game,

…by all accounts, WoW is a single-player game with “optional” multi-player functionality and that’s where it fails hard being an MMORPG.

All still happens. You are delusional if you think this is a single player game.

Dungeons require a group. Raiding requires a group. PVP requires a group. Guilds still exist.

You don’t like the game and that is fine. But this is still an MMORPG.

Tell me how to kill mythic Azshara single player then. According to you I don’t need a group for that. So please. Enlighten me.

Interact doesn’t mean group up. I could wave at someone as I pass them on the road and they wave back, that is interacting with them.

It used to be an MMORPG. When I started playing in 2008 it was still an MMORPG. The fact is that it’s optional in the game.

I don’t disagree with you. Now look at sub counts since the caterclysm expansion. Trajectory is downward. They get
Bumps with new releases that never hold.

They release a 15 year old game that bucks the current accessibility mantra and they add billions of market cap to their company.

They picked a side to cater to. They picked wrong. It’s fixable

By definition, The Division or games like that are single player games with multiplayer functionality. You don’t even see other players in those games unless you select to group up, and then you can only have 4 in a group. The exception to that is the pvp zones. WoW doesn’t even fit in the same game category as what you described.

You’re probably one of those people who think that M+ is a slap in the face to real RPGs because “something something timers are bad.” But difficult content in this game, including mythic raids and high level arena as well, requires more coordination and communication than anything you could do in Vanilla.

Wait until you can out level the boss, then go back and kill them solo.

Is that the standard for interaction? Shew buddy…

You aren’t answering my question show me how it isn’t.

You are claiming this isn’t multiplayer yet I see tons of players every day and work with them in dungeons and raids.

You are claiming it’s not massive yet we have 7 expansions with tons of updates.

You are claiming there is no roleplaying but these forums and to servers beg to differ.

All you are doing is spouting your opinion as fact.

The game current is a MMORPG. You may not like everything about it but it doesn’t change the fact that it is a MMORPG.

Absolutely. I hope classic does influence retail. I want wow to be a grand adventure again.

Since hunters don’t have to stick 2000 arrows into their backpack like Legolas did, it is clearly not a RPG.

You just described Classic!

Because I play for the PvP. I think the do PvP better than almost all games and I have been addicted to their battlegrounds for years. Oddly, I played EverCrack only for the PvE. I met people in WoW world PvP that were fighting the Alliance in front of Orgimmar and that was what hooked me. That really had the MMORPG-PvP aspect I could never really find in EQ.

I could say hello.
