Will Blizzard start to fix retail due to the success of Classic?

No, and the great thing is all the money you’re spending on your sub goes to retail. Classic just needs maintaining. Thanks for funding the next expansion(s)!

Concurrent in the sense of “at this given snapshot in time for our earnings call the current active sub count” which is the obvious thing.

Oh this is only the 429th time I’ve seen this posted in some form or another. No, I don’t think classic shows us anything yet. Like someone else said, give it some time, then we will see.
I think retail should keep moving forward at this point with new things, now that classic people don’t have to butt in and whine about everything that changes, even graphical or cosmetic things like old mounts, that a lot of us want updated.
Maybe having the 2 separate styles of game will be for the best all around!

Who said days, classic leveling was good; especially for people who favor the RPG aspect of the game. However, when the bulk of people reach max level is when the game will fall apart for most people. So six months to a year will show the true appeal of the game. Blizzard is expecting 70% attrition, this is probably a fair estimate.

The changes to retail were implemented to fix the end-game which has always been a problem for many players. Remember that Vanilla invented the phrase “Raid or Die”. This is where most players will find themselves in a few weeks to months. And, if the rate at which players in classic are tearing through content is an indication, the raids will prove to be very simplistic and easily conquered.

How dare you be a pleasant and sensible person acknowledging people and validating them and their position. You are ruining the belief that everyone in this game is elitist or a jerk. Shape up.

Because we have to if we want the Heritage armors for the ARs. I don’t need , I REALLY dont want any more alts but I do want some of the Heritage stuff, so I have to slog through to 110. This is already painful enough, I want nothing changed to make it worse. If the Heritage armors were in the Shop I wouldn’t have to keep leveling my stupid mage (one class I didn’t have, now I really know why).

BFA launch increased subs by millions.

By your logic, BFA was a resounding success and they should focus entirely on Retail and shut down Classic.

Because after all, if only the first few weeks/months after launch count, it doesn’t matter if the active players drop off afterwards right?

they’re treating bfa like it doesn’t exist right now, so i’m skeptical.

There is a honeymoon period for new stuff always - even in the worse expansion at the start most people enjoyed it. It wasn’t until a month or so in that the crack start to show.

I really would hate for them to bring much from classic into retail and I have actually been enjoying classic so far. I think a far bit of that is because I am playing with friends a couple who are really enjoying it.

The class design is dog poo - the combat design is dog poo - the questing itself is pretty much dog poo ( I like no scaling though). I am really enjoying the professions but I can’t see much of that coming into retail - they would have to revamp the entire system and that would cost a raid tier because there is no way I would agree with them removing patterns that people have collected.

Ok so maybe you are struggling here but ill give it another go.

As you said subs went up by the millions and if you take (millions x 59.99 = F TON OF MONEY) then if you follow suit ( Business + Money = Success)

Also have you noticed the trend since wrath, yup player base goes up and right on back down.

Which again, is exactly what will happen with Classic.

But you are suggesting they make changes entirely based on 2 days of numbers from Classic.

The WoW reddit is a joke.

Star Wars in 1977 had very long queues, it was very hard to get the chance to watch it in the theatres.

What a failure that movie was! Am I right?

Well regardless of what happens, It still is and will always be more successful than BFA

In six months people joining classic will be stuck farming the edge of mob packs to progress.

Of all the mmorpgs i played they ALL were surely going to kill wow within the first week of launch. Most shut down. Classic wont kill wow retail either.

6 months cracks will show, in 1 year it will be a musem exhibit as intended.

Classic changed out of necessity.

Wait two months, create a,new character on classic and see why it changed first hand. Its different when the entire server is under 20 doing the same content, thats how classic was designed, and why it excelled at launch.

Now imagine doing that to endgame with no one your level around.

Look classic launch was a great experience, but dont kid yourselves with the fact that it cant sustain longterm. It would need the same influx of new players monthly that vanilla had…long term

So unless a leroy 2.0 video drops on facebook and hook millions of millenials…

Only because of how dreadful and stripped down the game is now. Levelling through ONE level is boring in retail. I’d level 1000 levels with utter joy in my heart in Classic.

People who think “Levelling is boring” caused this problem with the game. Levelling has been turned into a linear, boring plot-delivery device.

I mean why?

Classic is over there. If its successful then they have a mission complete. They don’t need to do anything more. If they bring Retail down to Classic in some form or fashion then… uh what will those do that like Retail as it is. They can’t go to Classic now can they?

What’s that orange ‘wow classic’ mean ? I was thinking that meant you don’t have the current retail game.

Means you’re just posting off a character from WoW classic.

You have to have a retail sub to play classic.

See, this is my classic character.
