Will Blizzard start to fix retail due to the success of Classic?

Lets hope so.

How is it unprecedented…

It’s a rerelease of the original game, which saw even more success during the original launch. That means there’s a precedence.

I dunno… maybe we should look words up before we use them.

Going to be hilarious in 6 months when Classic is still more popular than BFA lmao

You think cookie cutter builds arent exactly the same now? You just have less cookie cutouts now

The only thing I like about Retail WoW is Mythic difficulty for dungeons.
If Blizzard manages to make the classes engaging for me again, I’d go back to playing Retail WoW.

It’s the thing that disappointed me most since the MoP rework to talent trees.

I think the current system has potential. But Blizzard can’t be bothered to change it, so we’re stuck with the exact same build for most of an expansion.

Like Afflictions talents haven’t changed at all throughout the expansion. You run the exact same setup in almost every situation and the only thing that has “changed” is scaling has made Siphon Life a bit better.

Whats the point of having a modular system like the current talents when it’s no different to Classic in being just as cookie cutter?

I think retail will go on as per usual. They’re just glad to collect your sub money

Seriously this… I want classic to succeed. I personally prefer its world playstyle… But it’s only been open for literally less than a week. We can’t draw ANY conclusions from this. Like at all. In 6 months it could be a complete ghost town.

A perfect example of this is Bless online. The first week, even a month, it was packed (had big problems right away though like optimization). It was dead a month later. I’m sure classic will be fine, but give it a moment before saying it’s a success.

We will see in a few months if it is actually successful. If so, then hopefully they will take a few things, the right things, away from it all and apply it to their future works. Retail doesn’t need to become Classic, but I feel that the game and the devs have…lost their way. This could serve as a reminder of where they came from.

There are a thing or two they can learn always, but i don’t think they should base retail around what classic is.

Unprecedented interest in a re-release.

I think it’s safe to say that we’ve never seen this level of interest in a 15 year old game before.

But is it lasting success or flash-in-the-pan success?

I’m all in favor of Blizzard taking a hard look at what makes classic endearing and shamelessly ripping themselves off but I think it’s a bit early to be calling classic a success.

If, in a few months’ time, classic still has a robust community and not just a surge that amounts to a fluke, then we may call it a success.

For the time being, classic looks hopeful but should be regarded with skepticism.

Uh, there have been other re-releases of games that had a lot of interest. So its not unprecedented.

I mean, there was a company that put out a “new” version of Tetris recently and it performed exceedingly well. And all they did was add a new paint job.

So no, its not unprecedented interest in a re-release. It’s a release of something new when Blizzard hasn’t put out anything new in awhile. It’s also coming at a time when things are at a dry point in the current expansion. So of course there’s a lot of interest.

Blizzard has done that before. They’ve timed launches of games before the match up with dry spells.

How about we wait a bit until we call it a success… I’m on a supposed full server… On a friday, start of prime time, holiday weekend… There is no queue…

Nah they wont give a one and will only look for more ways to make us waste more our time to force us to use longer subs

Reputation farming is the biggest offender of that

First move is to wait.

The twitch numbers I saw on day 1 were around 760k Yesterday it was around 270k. That is a third of the initial audience in a couple of days.

To be clear here I am not saying classic will fail and I hope it does well. I am just saying that 3 days does not make a successful game.

If the numbers trend the same way (I expect them to stabilise though) then the game will not be a huge success for long.

First step is to wait at least a month or two.

Doing anything other than that would be a bad business move
