Will Blizzard start to fix retail due to the success of Classic?

An expansion experience is so fundamentally different than the base game experience its hard to compare them.

For the majority classic is leveling.

No expansion is based on that.

Does Classic currently have over 10 million people trying to play it?

Blizzard was completely unprepared for how hard people rushed WoD.

In before this thread get its content hidden.

Happens too much on here. Like it’s one thing to discuss Blizzard on both, but it’s another to do a “This Vs. That” sort of thing.

They’ve been doing that before, it’s still their intellectual property being stolen by these private servers. Countless servers have been shut down before they ever announced Classic WoW. Nostralius was a notable example that was still shut down by Blizz.

I said it earlier and I’ll say it again.

They won’t “Fix” retail, but they’ll probably start re-releasing other old games. I expect other game companies might do the same, easy way to make money with minimal effort.

Old white dudes who learn all the wrong lessons from things.

Agreed, it makes little sense for them to release Classic as a reason to sue private servers into oblivion, when they have already been getting pservers shutdown without classic. Precedence has already been set which is really all Blizz needs to fast track this stuff through the courts.

Sorry but that’s not true at all. You still seem to be completely missing the point why people play classic, and I’m guessing you’ll never understand that so it’s a moot point.

To be honest though by releasing something people wanted it increased overall stock price by 6%. So profit = success to them

I’m not missing any point. It was just released less than a week ago, people are trying it out.

I think it’s a hellhole, and will not touch it with a 10-ft pole.

IDC if people play it, as long as they don’t try to demand the version of the game I play be changed to fit their tastes.

Im digging the mog

You realize retail wow came from classic lol. It was the core design of the game and they’ve muddied the game so much it they’ve had to come out with wow classic because it’s strayed so far from the game everyone originally got hooked on.

I agree keep those Classic changes in Classic don’t bring old crappy ideas imho into retail.

Something to remember is that millions of people tried out the WoD launch as well, and less than a year later the subscription count was down to a lower point than it started from.

What is the point of having the two different versions if we are looking for a happy medium? Are the thinking WoW2?

Eventually WoW is going to have to have another expansion, right?

They can find what elements from Classic work and what ones don’t. They could make changes to leveling to slow it down if that is something. I’d love to see resistances make a comeback. Make professions matter. Do some class redesigns to make specs more fun and engaging. Slowing down leveling and making everything harder would bring back some of that “community” feeling because people would have to group up to quest.

There are many lessons they can learn and then implement.

The changes in my opinion are for the better, Retail isn’t perfect, but if blizzard remotely reverts back to Vanilla style gameplay, I’ll probably just quit. Those days are behind me, I don’t have the time to dedicate 4 hours to try to level up once anymore.

i’m not a teenager with infinite time on my hands., Keep your classic away from my retail, and we’ll be fine.

Yes, actually?

When thinking about Pirate Servers, the existence of WoW Classic is Moral Ground. They can’t justify, from a moral standpoint, the existence of Pirate Vanilla Servers. Because there are now actual LEGAL WoW Vanilla Servers.

It’s a matter of using PR as a weapon to deal with threats.

The best option would be more options…

Like warmode, give us a toggle to shut off CRZ and stay in a central shard on our server with other folks who have that toggled off. Let us shut off map hints and quest guides. Open up loot rules for pre-formed groups (regardless of difficulty)… let the people who want to play that way play that way… and form the kind of community they want.

The other thing is changing how they design the open world/questing going forward. Not just some inconvenience to pass thru on the way to end game like it feels like now.

Server centric events wouldn’t hurt either. (Server first or best titles, etc…)

I don’t think it will because there’s clearly a divided audience, hence the reason for classic. But that being said, if retail had old class design back I would probably try playing retail again.

Also leveling isn’t that bad until 50-60 where quests get slim.
