Will blizz start banning people for racism and sexual harassment then?

When you report some one you cant see there messages in general anymore.

Pretty sure they don’t ban someone right away. You get a slap on the wrist first by being squelched for X hours/days. Next time it’s longer and third possibly a ban. As a last resort they will ban someone for sure.

If they started monitoring chat for specific words used and punish accordingly, even in guilds/battle.net etc then that would get really spicy quickly. I’d be surprised if they don’t actually monitor chat in the first place but they don’t act on it. Yet.

Methinks that issue was solved from 1861-1865, and because a brand new political party of abolitionists, called the Republican party, had gotten their president elected in 1860 by the name of Aberham Lincoln. Then, because of a super majority in the Congress by the Republicans, they were able to pass three constitutional amendments: 13th,14th, and 15th amendments, which put an end to slavery. Please learn your history, and a good start would be the documentary called: The Divided Union, narrated by George Peppard.

Tf did this thread devolve into it.

Methinks everything is racist to the OP, just saying.

yeah bliz does take action

usually silences, then eventual bans, it happens plenty often

that said, i agree they need to dial up their speed of moderation - some other mmo’s do a zillion times better job of reducing toxicity

The “green” posts on the forums always seem so condescending and apologist. Blame the victim, don’t offer support. It’s the Blizzard way. I find it shameful. It’s so shocking they have the sexual harassment lawsuits pending.

Im a pretty foul person, but the crap i see in chat in game every day is enough to make me blush lol

Short answer: No

Long answer: No

Reckon you better get a thicker skin. I’m not being sarcastic, I’m just being straight up honest. ActiBlizz had to be sued to hold their employees accountable for harassment and racism, you don’t really think they’ll spend the time and money it would take to monitor every server’s chat do you?

Semper Fi! :us:

Just a reminder blizzard removed player targeted spit emote before enforcing actions/chat restrictions on people typing the hard r racial insult.

yeah you will get banned by those reasons , but you can bot AH bot materials and will be fine and dandy .

What does this long and convoluted example of one person lying have to do with this post?

Or maybe it’s related to stories and examples of harassment in the comments of this post?

Why are there still so many people talking about real life false accusations of actual assault (which truly are a tiny amount) as a basis for countering an argument that blizzard should take steeper punishments for in game harassment
 which has a chat log
 clearly evidenced and recorded ‘proof.’

This type of comparison doesn’t even makes sense in the first place.

SMH
Victim blaming/interrogating truly runs so deep in this community
no wonder blizzard doesn’t do anything about it. They would lose the player base that clearly uses this game to harass people for personal entertainment.

It seems like a majority of the responses in this post are saying, ‘It’s the internet, the victim can just block me so I shouldn’t be held accountable for my actions’
Or
‘This is probably just another false accusation’

To be clear, Microsoft has not bought ATVI
at least not yet. They’ve announced their intention to buy ATVI, but given the size and scope of the transaction, there are regulatory issues that will likely need to be addressed before the feds allow the sale to be finalized. I don’t expect that will happen for another year or so.

Here’s another that knows very little history, just saying. They can’t even use words, but pictograms, like the Asirians did

The Assyrians? Is that who you mean? If you’re trying to come off as intelligent, you’re going to need to up your game.

Just saying.

Some people take the forums pretty seriously. :frog: :coffee:

Blizz should pay employees to watch trade chat on every server all day long and hand out bans. This automated self police system is cheap for them, but it doesn’t work. And often it’s abused by the same people that it’s meant to catch. Blizz needs real people watching chat and moderating their game.

I don’t know how it is on your server, but on most bigger servers where trade chat is active, it is packed with boosting spam - which is not against the rules. If an employee tries to watch trade chat on Blackmoore-EU or Twisting Nether all day long, a break every 15 minutes must be granted because this can be very exhausting for the human eye.

Not realistic, would you do that job? They could hire a group to respond to all in game reports on every server as they happen, instead of days later.

But what real good would that do? Since you’re never informed what action was taken, does it matter how fast it happens? After you report a player, you no longer see anything they type.

The only response I’ve ever gotten from a report was an in game mail informing me an action was taken and a thank you for the report. It didn’t even identify what player was reported.

Just use the report system we have and get along with your game. Don’t dwell on it, there will always be idiots, that will never change.
