Did they make an announcement?
I thought they were considering letting players do a one-time transfer to a separate TBC server.

Good question, they should start it at 58 tbh
There’s no reason why they could not offer fresh servers and servers with transfers available. As to why they would do it, because people are willing to pay them money to do so presumably.
Based on that survey they released, depending on the outcome will result in how many servers of each type we’re going to see.
There’s going to be Classic only servers.
There’s going to be 58 ‘fresh’ TBC servers.
There’s going to be start from level 1 TBC servers.
And there’s going to be a ‘transfer here’ TBC servers.
How many of each is the question.
Yeah, some definitely are…
And they don’t give a [Censored] what anyone else wants…
They opened up new servers when tbc was launched. So yeah
There are a lot of good reasons to and reasons not to have tbc be mandatory resets.
Reasons for starting from 1.
Separate Classic Van from Classic TBC,
Protects economy temporarily from overabundance of gold and makes getting 280% flying a worthwhile challenge,
Ensures that no Classic-Van servers are forced into TBC,
Puts all players interested in TBC on a equal footing in contrast to players starting from level one vs players with naxx gear/epic mount/and thousands of gold,
Reasons not to start from level 1.
People who put effort in their character/s shouldn’t have that be for nothing,
As pointed out progressing 60-70 was how it was done when tbc was released,
Will help with faction racial balance (by not having everyone start from level 1 you won’t have >50% be Blood Elf or Draenei),
People who put all their eggs in the vanilla “meta” basket should have it bite them come tbc,
These were just a couple of the for/against reasons I could think of from the top of my head.
no, what would solve this whole issue, make tbc servers separate, you copy over to them and that copy comes with a per realm gold cap. high enough to allow for spending money for mounts and training @ 70, but lower than the half a million+ gold some people will have. maybe a mat restriction too. it’s not fair to anyone, and that’s what makes a good compromise.
Begone with your nuance and grasp of the basic presumptions.
If Blizzard is smart they will open a variety of server options, so both fresh start players & Classic transfer players will be happy.
Making people start over at 1 would be interesting.
Who cares if people would quit? We’ve had loads of people quit now due to Blizzard’s non-vanilla changes and mess ups so why would this change be the one that breaks classic?
maybe u guys can get off the forums and make some gold for once and stop being salty people have more gold then u.
sorry its gonna take u 3 months to get your flying mount in tbc /cry
It’s going to be interesting if blizzard does announce both fresh servers and ones we can continue these characters on… the freshies will still come to the forums and complain that all servers aren’t fresh and that it will somehow hinder their happiness and interest for the game.
Because the launch of vanilla was so bungled and the servers so horribly mismanaged that layering still exists on some of them and on others the population balance is 99 to 1. Or 100 to 0.
Because rampant botting inflated the economy to the moon.
Because a huge portion of the population having Tier 2 and above gear makes leveling from 60-70 a complete joke and as a result Tier 4 starts out with training wheels.
Best option is new servers with a single 58 boost (this might happen) and blizzard actually doing something to promote some semblance of faction balance (this will never happen).
WTF ? Why a copy AND a 58 premade character ?
A copy is fine but what about this premade character mentality ?
Imagine having to play the game.
What’s next ? “I don’t like to die on a boss, so please give me a One Shot option ?”
Azeroth doesn’t disapear during TBC : Classes balance, leveling improvement, new quests in Azeroth, Draenei/BloodElf etc.
The 1-58 content IS PART of the TBC experience too.
Why should they give a free level 58 when you can level this can character in Classic and copy it or even during TBC when the leveling is easier ?
Why should they give a free level 58 when we had to level you character properly and so devalueted the value of our investissement just because some players don’t want to play the game ?
Honestly it would be a good idea to do that, for the players as well as blizzard. Seriously TBC’s content is very finite compared to classic(vanilla). It is an expansion designed for around a years worth of content.
Now the original TBC release underwent multiple patches and updates, something Blizz will not do, because it requires a lot more work and tuning than just launching the game in the final patch before pre wotlk patch.
Now you can gate the whole thing with locking stuff here and there, but overall I believe everyone would benefit the most of it by starting with lvl 1.
Fresh lvling on a brand new servers is always fun, when everyone is in the starter zone and there are no boosts or carries and everyone ventures out. I get why some people dislike it, I just want to point out, that by doing this you can experience the thrill of a “fresh” server as well as drag out the content for another month.
You could also enjoy picking a completely different class instead of your current main without suffering any downside in terms of “being behind” because you opted to start from lvl 1 when everyone copied their lvl 60 toon.
Im not sure I do want to play my rogue in TBC for instance, and maybe try smth else instead without having to stress about not being part of the pack.
Its because the vast majority of warriors and especially rogues will reroll
I can understand starting at level 1. I don’t understand having random Level 58s with no ties from the original game, entering into the picture. I’d much rather have our Classic progress be copied over (as in already available upon the launch of BC) over that. If not, I’m content with starting over at Level 1 because I do think Classic and BC are two different Games.
I’m fine either way, but the most logical reason people would want everyone to start from level 1 is to recreate the feeling a lot of us had when Classic started last year.
