probably because it was such a new concept blizzard backtracking on legacy servers after a decade of saying they would never do them, and because it took longer to get 1-60 in classic than it does to get 60-70. It was more about the journey and TBC is more end game focused.
WPVP is just rogues flying around hellfire looking for levelers to kill. Toxic anti social neets is why we got Warmode
Then the ppl shd be back for Wrath , they made the leveling much easier and the classes are much better balanced for PvP
easy answer: Classic was fresh and new and had more/longer content, TBCC is just an expansion.
Friggin flyin mounts and the fact that you only have a small island to play on as opposed to two whole continents. Classic was just bigger and blizzard has dragged their feet on key issues regarding tbc (bg que times/honor rate and dual spec) that make this xpac all seem like a waste of time.
Isn’t TBCC still in Phase 1?
Classic was one of the biggest and most hyped events in gaming history. TBCC was a quick cash grab.
I’m guessing the people responding to the thread must be under the false impression that TBCC ended in Phase 1 and now they’re waxing nostalgic about it.
I can probably tell you exactly why TBCC might seem less successful.
Because TBCC got flooded with a lot of retail players that left Shadowlands because it was a dumpster fire. Then, when they realized that TBCC did not have all the easy button QoL things they had in retail and they could not get them added, are now leaving because they do not want to work for it when retail just gives it to them on a silver platter.
I honestly think some players will not be happy until TBCC has everything retail WoW has today. Reading the forums lately, that is exactly what it looks like players want, retail WoW, but the TBCC Content.
Don’t know. but i think that the “old” people that came back briefly before they quit again in Classic Vanilla were the big causes of the huge initial surge. I don’t think they’re coming back. I know almost everyone I knew came back from old raiding guilds, but none of them stayed subbed. It was too much of a time commitment. And none of them came back for TBC.
I quit classic right before AQ. I plan on playing TBC all the way through. Maybe because of the legendary bow though
I think what makes it better for me is 25 man raids. I like more tight knit communities and 40 man raids make that hard
Also world buffs were beyond dumb
They literally did. That’s just what you accept playing older WoW.
Tbh the best chance for wpvp to occur is in p1 of TBC. Also being originally from Herod I can attest that wpvp was far better in classic than TBC but with Blizz making very reckless decisions and not putting checks and balances to keep servers stable I can kind of see a massive drop off on the horizon. So at this point it’s just about making the best of a tainted experience.
Neither TBC or Wrath are better than Vanilla. Just different.
They still managed to be a blast back in the day because neither the players or devs had completely sold out yet.
Monetization.
This is such bs, the classic vanila server has what 2 or 3 people on them. If vanila was better people would still play vanila. Hell people still play dota now
If they had left the Classic servers as is and made new TBCC servers with no boosts that wouldn’t have been the case .
TBCC is more successful for me than classic was. Mostly because I like not having to farm 1000s of MCP. Mind you I like very much to have all consumables but some of the time I just want to buy them instead of having to farm them for every single raid.
Meh apples to oranges. I like apples and I like oranges but im not going to say which I like more because theyre quite distinct from one another. Same deal with WoTLK, TBC and Vanilla. All have their charm in different aspects and all make me happy to play.
Classic is a different game. Tbc and on is much more closer to retail and a majority just went back for 9.1.
