Why was Classic more successful than TBCC

These threads are so funny. TBCC is just fine. Vanilla classic rode a massive hype wave and nothing following it was going to be as big; it’s not like the original releases.

I world PvP on a constant basis, it’s great fun. Flying does nothing to kill of wpvp, because people still want what they want where they want it. It does mean that if you are just dominating someone who can’t contest with you they can actually get away now, which I understand why you wouldn’t like as a rogue, but hey, not everyone can be a winner. If I want to contest for something and I have a chance of winning I’m not going to fly away.

Comparing release vanilla classic populations to TBCC populations is nonsensical and disingenuous.

You pretty much nailed it. The game is better in terms of design but all the flaws of Vanilla is what made it so special and most importantly, more fun.

Something that gets unnoticed. I’m tired of attunements, tired of grinding rep. TBC is nothing but a big giant timegate to keep you on a treadmill because the content is lacking.

Classic has more ‘magic’ to it. The ‘fun’ of leveling, the randomness in the open world, the zones all seem (mostly) exciting and new…

Not sure what TBC did differently, but Classic/Vanilla does seem more MMORPG like. Really can’t put my finger on it tbh.

Zones in TBC are small, incredibly small. It’s why they had to release old world content because outland is so tiny.

Battlegrounds and arenas killed world pvp 1000% more than flying did, so I always find it hilarious when zoomers claim that “flying kills world pvp”…it was already dead by the time flying came out lmfao

Yea, because being pigeon holed into a specific set, grinding gold and materials for consumes and raid logging your world buffs was loads of fun….

would of been better if it was all a fresh release like classic but without layering (to spread players thru other servers) that’s why classic was a better feel than tbcc . people would of played tbcc regardless of boost. most everyone was ready to play tbcc prior to the boost notice. in classic and retail.

I’m not a big fan of attunements but it’s not like it takes a long time in the scheme of things. Once you’re done you’re done.

Classic was, and never will be, close in popularity to TBC.

I find it funny that NOBODY here but me saw this coming? You can never recreated World of Warcraft. You can re-live “SOME” of the nostalgia. Cross your fingers and hope the next expansion takes us back to what WOTLK once was.

lol… 6 months after classic release, most servers were practically dead, and many just transferred to the same 3-4 top end ones. Yea, totally thriving population indeed.

Classic superior lol maybe if we removed all the players.

Wts mara run 9 trillion mobs. 600g

Mc gdkp 1000 gold.

Must have 67 world buffs to raid with us.

I ran SM once two weeks ago lower level dungeons are fine. Selling SM boost 3g 5 runs for 15g.

Classic turned into a sweaties dream. You think you all would realize what actions and consequences are but im talking to the wow forum :joy:

This thread is pretty funny considering people were screeching about classic being dead since phase 1. Guess no one loves to hate WoW like WoW players do.

Now that I think about it, this is pretty close to the forum experience back then too. In Wrath we’ll see people singing praises about how TBCC was the pinnacle of WoW classic.

Not really a fair comparison, maybe start a fresh classic server and then see what the attention draw to that would be.

Vanilla servers were around for a lot longer than Blizzard’s classic was…I don’t think I should have to remind you of that.

Zandalari troll … the original race and the original Paladins of Azeroth .

“obvious”? what are you talking about? this is just your opinion

FTFY :slightly_smiling_face:

Awww, after all that hard work.

I agree. It’s doubtful we’ll ever get another “museum” though. Classic Plus will be next with a shop, tokens, etc.
gotta grab those :dollar::moneybag::dollar:

Cute little edgy gnome. I’ll quote what I said.

See?

3 things imo.

As much as I despise original TBC and what it did to WoW as a whole, the reason imo, is not as much to do with the game as it is, but because the hype in the beginning or Classic Vanilla was huge and drew players of old back - even those that may not have had time and no longer play anymore. Then as they realized they couldn’t do it, they quit. If a lot of them found out they just didn’t have the time, why would they try TBC?

The second is that TBC Classic is grindier than Vanilla Classic. There are fewer shortcuts. This leaves a lot of people like they’re falling behind.

The third is raid sizes. in Vanilla you had to horde up 40 people. Now it’s 25. “Fat” is trimmed leaving those who didn’t put in the time in the beginning not being part of the core group. It’s probably demoralizing.

Edit: the raid size of 25 is so dumb. Why not make it a nice even number like 20.
