Why Tyrande isn't part of Nazjatar/Eternal Palace

Without reading anything and just answering the question posed in the title of this thread:

Poor writing decisions.

Pick your poison: either Tyrande works with the Horde to fight Azshara, or she ignores Azshara to fight the Horde.

The Horde can work with her to fight Azshara as long as they behave unless they want to test her wrath.

Thanks but no thanks. One dose of “muhh Beloved!!!” was good enough.

No Horde - Tyrande “collaboration”, that’s even more retarded than the already retarded Jaina + Genn option.

I guess it would be as bad as us working with Saurfang. Oh wait !

Seriously though I get your point but they could have made Tyrande Alliance only or having another character more suited than Shandris like Malfurion.

Defending Lordaeron from the Alliance puts Lor’themar at as much fault as everyone else for Teldrassil. He tried to protect his old crush from justice, directly after she genocided a race that she had hardly any interactions with, ever.

Thalyssra is no better. A traitor through and through. The Alliance helped save her people from utter annihilation, and she repaid them by joining their mortal enemies, and immediately going to war with them.

To close out a story involving Azshara, yes, I would prefer Tyrande. Not a character that was made up in Legion. Either way in this plot I’m a sidekick to an Elf. So if I have to be a sidekick to an Elf then let me be a sidekick to an actual Night Elf character with a long history of established lore to close out the Azshara plot. It makes no more sense to me following Thalyssra as a “Horde ally” than if I followed Tyrande into Nazjatar as an ally.

We did test her Wrath. She ran away. Don’t think she can threaten us.

And that at the end of the day is the core problem with Tyrande. Blizzard will never allow her to have any good moment, not even in her own revenge patch.

Oh, thought you meant Jaina.

It doesn’t have to be either/or, though. Gunship battle in ICC, and Stormheim showed us that. We can throw down right in the face of the third party threat, and everything is still fine.

Then she’ll be criticized for being foolish and ignored from facing Azshara.

It’d still be better than the current choice of not having her at all in anywhere. We keep falling into the good old tell but not showing when it comes to Night Elves. We are told that she is doing all this amazing stuff but we don’t get to see them. We only have to take the word from blizzard that she is taking care of business all the while she is completly mia from the very patch featuring her revenge against the Horde.
Anyway, she doesn’t have to work with the Horde in a fight against Azshara. She can comand her own troops to deal with things the way she sees fit.
Also, as much as the avatar of vengance she has become, I really don’t think she is beyond the ability to see how not everyone deserves death and that some horde members can in fact be dealt with differently.

We’re not even told what she’s doing right now, besides the vague line “I’m off to sate the Night Warrior’s wrath.”

If Tyrande joins the Azshara fight in the raid, she would eventually have to work beside a few Horde characters. The only way to avoid that is by not having any Horde there at all. But…

…I agree Tyrande doesn’t flat out hate Thalyssra/Lor’themar and their people as much as Sylvanas/Saurfang and their people. The latter group are responsible for the invasion into NE lands and Teldrassil, while the former had no involvement. Tyrande tolerating the presence of the Horde elves leading in Nazjatar is far more believable than tolerating Nathanos leading them. She’s not going to hold a damn thing back if she sees that man’s smug face walking around Nazjatar.

Thalyssra is someone Tyrande likely thinks is a fool for running to the Horde and into the arms of Sylvanas shortly after they booted Elisande (and are yet again in a position where they must rebel against their leader), and thus has little respect for the nightborne leader. Tyrande would surely tell Thalyssra her opinions about these leadership decisions, but wouldn’t go on the attack as long as Thalyssra and the other Horde stay in their lane. Thalyssra has no desire to fight Alliance in Nazjatar (she probably has no desire to fight them period), so I doubt there would be any need for violent conflict.

And? People still call Genn foolish for Stormheim. Doesn’t change the fact he:

  • Stopped the enslavement of another sentient being.

  • Stopped Sylvanas from getting another power-up.

  • Got some modicum of personal revenge for Liam.

  • And had no negative impact on the campaign against the Legion.

I disagree.

How can people suggest the story is subverting expectations when everything is as expected.

If you read the posts in this forum since the start of BfA, you would know that the most cynical posters expected Tyrande to be sidelined for Azshara because that would be horrible writing, and horrible writing is the expectation.

We all expected it was Sylvanas who burns the tree. We only postulated other outcomes because Blizzard said it would not be who we expect. But it was

I think you give Blizzard writers too much credit by assuming they have a philosophy other than “screw what the subscribers think, its MY story! The subscribers are LUCKY we share our fantasy for their money!”

I disagree again. I see it as the opposite. I think GoT it is getting more and more textbook and predictable as it leaves the novels.

Damned good points. Even as a Horde, and even though I despise his motives for doing so, I would honestly kiss Genn’s butt in thanks for stopping Sylvanas from getting access to infinite Val’kyr. Her having that sort of power would have been a terrible thing for BOTH factions (just like this war).

That being said … I am still trying to figure out the Timetable of events of 8.2. Does Naz’jatar happen before or after the attempt to rescue Baine? How quickly after the ships fall through the sea did the “defeat” of Azshara occur? I know that Genn, Jaina, Thalyssra, Lor’themar, and Nathanos were all on those ships that crashed onto the seabed; so with Feathermoon working fairly close with the Seventh Legion lately it is possible she’s only involved because she was too.

Not that I excuse Blizz for not including Tyrande, but “sealed” is not “dead” … and it means that Azshara could make a return when her Old God hubby makes his move. If that is the case, Tyrande should be there for the FINAL defeat of the former queen of the Kal’dorei … and her presence isn’t THAT important if Naz’jatar really is only round 1 of 2. Plus, who knows, maybe they can expand on the Kalimdor front in the War Campaign of 8.2/8.2.5 and have her pushing hard through Ashenvale.

Genn has half human potential. Tyrande is a night elf working with Anduin.

I’m assuming after, since Jaina’s in both places. The alternative, her teleporting back for five seconds to help Baine, before teleporting back into Nazjatar, just seems silly.

Probably not long. I’d say about as long aa we were on Argus, if not less. I haven’t heard anything about reinforcements having time to arrive, and Azshara seems to have streamlined most things to hurry up and get us in the palace for N’zoth shenanigans.

That’s why I don’t mind Shandris being there first. It’s her being the only notable Night Elf, and Tyrande either not showing up at all, or popping up through a portal for five seconds, that irks me.

That’s pretty much my hope for how things turn out. And it’s a slim one.

Though, I also have a wild idea about after N’zoth is defeated, and his power weakened, Elune can turn the remaining Naga back into Night Elves. Including Azshara, if she’s sealed and not dead.

Here is the problem that I am starting to see, I am thinking Blizzard didn’t include Tyrande to not hurt Horde players feelings with harsh judgements like “Murderers!” which obviously is interstandable from the Horde players perspective so I won’t complain she didn’t do that but they could also have her interact less with the Horde.
