It was a big Reddit post they made right after Blizzcon in response to the ‘nothing more this Xpac’ announcement. It was really eye-opening, and something I’d always sort of suspected but the extent of it was new to me.
How is it not when you have gotten almost the entirety of another race’s appearance and get to be the only race that has both human and fantasy skin tones? You’ve basically gotten two races in one, and frankly the void elves are now superior to blood elves in variety for some people.
Fine, it was all easy to do, but that’s because it was a lazy request, you wanted a copy of a horde race on the alliance, and you got it. That’s huge. You didn’t get shorted because they didn’t make up a brand new model for the same race.
So what, you want the art team to just work on cosmetics that frankly most people are not obsessed about? I’m just saying all this stuff has to be made by artists in the first place, some of it can be swapped around easily, but it’s not just a slider system where things are procedurely changed. It takes time to do this stuff, and these people are also doing other art work for aspects of the game that are more important like game play. And I’m sure it all depends on how many character artists they have and if that’s all they do.
Just a casual reminder that a group of people whining about “sides” have a Discord dedicated to derailing threads and harassing people who disagree with them.
Don’t fall for their bait.
Red eyes for velfs btw. Let us go full goth when we get our real pass.
And this is why we’ve had to wait so long. People like their characters to look good, barring the few who are fixated on numbers only. You think people want tier sets back just because of the set bonuses? No, they want their character to look cool. Same with customization.
Even with the overhaul, WoW is laughably behind all other MMOs. I don’t think that’s due to the art team, and I welcome them being let out of their ‘time to design a new system UI’ cages to make things they’ve likely been champing at the bit to make.
The new glasses we got? One person made those in their free time, because they wanted to. That’s how badly the art team likely wants to make new stuff.
I just happen to think more people think of customization as a happy bonus to the rest of the game. And how much of it is model based and how much is mog based is up for debate. I just happen to think there are more people who probably are more interested in new content of whatever type they want than are super concerned about having a constant flow of new model options.
The “High elf discord” is Legacy of the Quel’dorei. They’re incredibly transparent and don’t even allow mentioning the forums as per their own rules, I watched someone get chewed out a few weeks ago for even making mention of the general forums.
No, it’s pretty obvious who was being named here, all cheekiness aside.
Oh, another thought: Dark Iron Dwarf Death Knights, their hair and beards should have the option for blue fire, as opposed to orange. That fits far better and would just look really cool to begin with.
Honestly Death Knights in general for sure need a little bit more love, this is essentially supposed to be their Wrath 2.0.
Also, question for Troll enthusiasts: Are Forest Trolls the only variant not represented now in the options, or are there others missing that you’d like to see? I know there’s Sand Trolls and Dark Trolls, and of course Zandalari are an allied race, and the Jungle Trolls are pretty much covered. Frost Trolls?
Let me just rejoin a Discord I left over a year ago, or go pull out people’s posts literally saying they’re in it from the high elf customization thread.
Oh wait.
I’m not ever going to appease you, or put effort into attempting to do so until you apologize for spending 2+ years and the entirety of your forum presence harassing people asking for blonde hair.
I think the reality is you have no proof and that’s okay because that just further proves you are a liar and I had left this thread but you just brought me back so take your own advice.
Another one would be more faces for Tauren, I think that was brought up above. But also more horn styles as well, the same could be said for Highmountain really. Tauren did get a lot of love in the overhaul but comparatively they’re still pretty far behind. Maybe more decorative totems for them to wear, specifically for whichever spirit guide someone might want their character to have.
Dwarves honestly came out pretty well for the overhaul, but scars would be nice, like Night Elves and Orcs. More scars for everyone, really. Blood Elves would benefit from them as an option, maybe a sliced off ear option too, I think Night Elves got those.
Tattoos would also be nice for everyone but those are trickier since not all races have them, culturally.
