More of whoever they catered to they’re going against the wishes of the other group. If you didn’t get high elf options that’d be the unique races side getting something at the cost of the high elf group. It’s not just as simple as saying “Blizz finally listened to the players” when it was a spot where they chose something that had people both for and against the addition.
And what would you have suggested, Tarrok? Telling the other side to go roll Horde if they want to play a High Elf?
I mean, it is only a small minority of people here on the forums out of the total player base that really get involved if it is anything to do with High Elves, and on top of that, it was only skin colours and hair colours people actually got. None of them are only unique to one side or one race.
I’ll put it this way, if I was a dev working at Blizzard, one of the biggest challenges would’ve been trying to please millions of people who play the game, something which will be entirely impossible, because millions of people who still do, or have, all have different opinions about everything within the game, even customizations.
Basically, nobody can please anyone, because everyone will have different opinions about everything. And nothing can stay one sided for ever.
There will always be people for and against everything. In the case of High Elves there was a LARGE demand FOR them, and a small minority against them. Blizzard chose to appease the large group because they wanted to get a win with the playerbase.
And now I gladly rock my blonde hair and violet eyes as I stroll through the streets of Stormwind And 95% of the Void Elves I see do as well.
I still would love to see Void customizations added in sometime soon though
As I think I said to Avarie way back when, I felt that it sucked that we both couldn’t get our way, but I had my preference and she had hers. It’s just a game preference, and people have always found ways to say they’re whatever they want in RP, I have no beef with people who had humans or nelfs they thought of as High Elves.
Nah, more like sometimes it’s not possible to please everyone, and when that happens you shouldn’t pretend that everyone’s been pleased just because you are.
Ugh, and now this is just going in circles and is going no where…
Yeah, have a nice day Tarrok.
Ah, I can just imagine how the reaction would be if things worked out differently and we made the statement that Blizz had listened to the players and valued having unique races that each brought something different to the table.
I’m also picturing all the explanations about how that is totally different.
Yep, and I always found it nice that you felt that way. I also always liked that Murgy said we aren’t enemies, we just disagree. It eventually got to me that from the helf side some people treated it like a real war and not a disagreement on pixel elves, and wanted to cause very real pain to the people on the other side. And even if I still wanted high elves, it wouldn’t feel good to see the disappointment of friends who wanted different things for whatever reason.
It’s boggling they haven’t granted such an easy request. It even becomes more confusing when there’s loads of easy peasy requests like Worgen tails, upright posture, younger nightborne faces, voidier void elves, etc are forgone or ignored for things we didn’t ask for.
Me too! I want the Belf cat form to look like the sunwarmed furline.
Man, this thread is unfriendly.
Yes! Upgraded lynx kitties for hunters too please!
Believe it or not earlier it was said that it’s supposedly because of me. Lol.
It’s not really any ONE person’s fault. I’ve seen hostility from all sides over dissenting opinions.
Pretty much this. Everyone has been hostile to each other, regardless if apart of the Pro High Elf community or the Anti High Elf Community.
Meanwhile there is an Alliance content draught for raids and mythic dungeons. So, catering to that Horde point of view isn’t really helping anything.
The Blood Elf Druid thing is a rough request considering that people are so against Void Elf Paladins.
Would Void Elves get Druid too? Would there be High Elf and Void Elf form choices?
Honestly, and in my own honest opinion, it isn’t about catering, it is about working together to request for the things we all want to see. But we don’t see that, instead, we see constant behaviour between groups of peoples on the forums attacking each other over request.
Like seriously, we all play the same game, we all pay the same amount for a subscription, we all should treat each other equally, not this hostility that we see on the forums.
I want to see more Human Customization Options than the ones we have like atleast more shades of Red hair color what the Kul’tirans have, Light Blonde, Deep Black, Another Shade of Brownish/Orange Hair, and etc Hair Colors along with nicer Hairstyles from the Kul’tirans or atleast inspirated Hairstyles like Characters from League like Miss Fortune, Ahri, Akali, Yauso, Jaina Proudmoore, Hanzo, Li Ming, Chun Li, and etc Character Hairstyles, and much more.
Right now the Humans really don’t have alot of unique stuff to them in Variety of Customization Options.
It exists for me because I want customizations to make my character unique and don’t want to twin. It’d be the same if they had made Velves Horde.
More Pandaren customization would be nice. We got absolutely shafted with only three new fur colors + three hair styles. We didn’t even get any new jewelry or the options to have your fangs out like Chen Stormstout.
I like the new void elf customizations for the lore potential and ect…
But if there’s one thing that rankles me, it’s that every single chance Blizzard had to add something new to void elves, they went with a dull copy paste. Void, high, or in-between, that’s pretty lame.
To be fair…there’s literally nothing in lore to infer that high/blood elves can’t become druids (the cenarion circle tauren in WPL outright says during the Zek’kiki quest chain that they welcome students of any race as long as they’re willing to learn their ways)…likewise there’s nothing in lore that says "X race CAN’T learn to wield the light’ . But a paladin actively channels the light through them unlike simply using it like a priest does, so a void elf (someone infused with void) would be channeling the force literally opposite to that…so it’s rather lore-breaking.
However, that said…something that mechanically works the same way as a paladin but does so channeling void as the ‘battery’ vs light (void knight) could work, but it would be the void ‘equivalent’ to a paladin, not an actual paladin.
