Lol, every time someone says this I think it’s horrible because any jewelry options past earrings in WoW almost always looks terrible.
It was kind of wild that Blood Elves even got half-elf options in the first place. Their society frowns upon half-elves and they have no reason to interact with humans for anything to even happen. Alliance is the only faction with actual half-elves represented in lore as well. We also have both races allied with us, meanwhile the Horde only have one; and the one that hates half-elves.
Hopefully that’s what takes up VE options when ever they come back to VEs after having just given them two passes.
Yeah I was kind of puzzled as well. I guess Blizzard don’t consider ear length options as “Half Elf” customizations in that case. :-\
I think Blizzard’s stance lately is to loosen up character customizations to let us roleplay our character the way we envision them. So their old stance of “your character is a Stormwindian Human” is no longer true, they’re basically giving us the power to make our characters actually be the way we want them to be.
I wouldn’t be surprised if, in a future, they let us customize our racial tags, like “Alteraci Human” instead of just “Human” or “Forsaken” instead of “Undead”.
It’d be easier for them than actually having to create allied races from scratch. It would also be cool if our characters had access to a pool of different generic racials associated with our “base” race or faction instead of having fixed racials. So we could choose among those generic racials. So a Half Elf could perhaps choose one Human racial and one Elf racial, for instance.
I’m all for giving freedom to our characters to make them look and be the way we want them to look and be.
Always within a certain limit in terms of lore compliance.
Also did anyone notice that by the logic of it being okay Blood Elves get lackluster passes or acceptable they lost visual uniqueness. The same logic for NEs already being popular and getting tons of options with SL would reason for them to not get much more in the future.
If that’s the argument I mean, as it seems to be some explanation for Blood Elves. Maybe in the future it will explain Night elf stuff
I would love to see San’layn as an allied race for these reasons. Imagine their heritage armor
I would love them as an allied race, but to be honest i think that customizations like red eyes and pale skin tones are more realistic at this point
Indeed…
I just hope Blizzard hasn’t completely abandoned the idea of allied races. At least gilbins and Sethrak could be awesome allied races for the Horde and Alliance respectively.
Hopefully Kelfin end up as customization for Goblins
I’m hoping that Nightborne eventually get as much attention and as many customization options including eye colors, skintones, hair colors, hairstyles, etc. that Night Elves have but it’s highly unlikely that Blizzard will bump us up to the second highest customizations in the whole game especially after well what Nightborne got this time around new customization wise.
Also yes this, I don’t want them as a whole Allied Race just because Alliance wants to try and take Sethrak like they tried with Vulpera.
I’m just glad the argument trying to give a reason for Blood Elves loss of visual uniqueness and lackluster options as if intentional because their popular can be used for Night Elf complaints for fixes their after.
We have this argument to thank for this sentiment it certainly was an interesting read, one I think applies to Night Elf requests
Lol, I know I seen that when I woke up and the fact he added that he hopes every race gets what they want customization wise a few posts after that seems really disingenuous.
Well when you read it it does apply NE fans requests or complaints as well so idk I’m glad to use that post as citation in the future
So when are Blood Elves getting a pass? We got half a pass that left out some core elements.
Like, what kind of race that barely survived a literal zombie apocalypse doesn’t have scars?
Honestly, I think AR’s would be better if made from the ground up, but in a way, I still wouldn’t see some AR’s actually working properly unless it gets done right. Even over the course of adding the core races, Blizzard hasn’t done them right, because they had to even implement something that wasn’t within the lore to add them to where they are now.
And plus then some customization request from some people wouldn’t work anyways, because of the boundaries of the lore.
But with the Void Elves, it is disappointing, because Blizzard knew they screwed up, because they couldn’t push the lore any further with them without contradicting the lore of them, which is basically very little to begin with, therefore to the reason why we got the High Elven customizations for the Void Elves.
Nothing disingenuous about it. It’s true that Blood Elves for over a decade had the most customization options.
It’s also true that I want every race to get options that fans of them want.
There’s nothing but good to come from more options all around.
Also would like to take this moment to thank all those that supported my comments I made a few days ago.
Thank you all, I appreciate it.
It’s true NEs got a ton of options and are popular.
Perhaps that is a valid reason Blizzard hasn’t commented on any face complaints NE fans have?
They have… otherwise they would have added the final two races to the mix before the character creator got its rework. We don’t have any Allied Races anymore in the current system. And I’m pretty sure they will reduce it to a race-and-ancestry layer in the future.
This hasn’t stopped Blizzard to give the Mag’har Orcs several clans into one single race. Don’t count on it.
It’s too early to say this but the moment we don’t see the Void Elves (minus Alleria) active during the Light expansion, then they have really moved away from the concept. Alleria is bound to appear because of Turalyon but if she is the only active Void Elf…
You mean like how Orcs and Trolls also got a whole heep of customization options too?
But Mad’gar Orcs is just Orcs basically, but from AU Draenor. I mean, if you think about it, Orcs are Orcs with multiple clans under the one banner too, are they not?
Blood Elves did not get a real pass.
They got half a pass.
Why?
- Mustache and beard were not separated into two selection options for mixing and matching— Several other races got this.
- Tattoos or Warpaint — Several other races got this. There’s official art and graphics depicting Farstriders having marking and magisters having runic markings. There’s no excuse.
- Scars—Several other races got this. You would think a race where 90% of the population was killed by zombies would have some battle scars.
- Hair ornamentation—Several other races got this. Feathers (Farstrider aesthetic) and crystals (Magister aesthetic) both make sense.
- Jewelry isn’t even available to guys. At all. Either give us the awful jewelry or something else.
If I were Blizzard’s professor I’d give them a D on the Blood Elf project because it’s incomplete and they let another project plagiarize.
