Why the lack of Customization?

I like coming to the forums and seeing “shinies for me, but not for thee” posters. “You already have enough.” And I’m not talking about VE.

Human male physique and faces are questionable. Their scars are tied to face options and some from the ptr before their release were altered to have weird brow heights. Trolls and undead not having posture options or beards. NB being CREATED looking like nothing in game (but now they have all custom hair and eye options so yay). VE balding. LF Draenei getting literally any representation in game after their release. Also males horns are tied to their hair styles and they all look grumpy like nelves.

People are coming here to talk about reasons why x race doesn’t deserve y thing, but this thread is about lack of customization.

Void elves were always set to get skintones later, see alleria and the wayfarers.

But beyond that, they were a race Blizz at least had an excuse to give “diversity” colours too. After all, lorewise we hadn’t seen dwarves, gnomes of belves with such skintones either, but the got it because Blizz could virtue signal with that. (Not that I’m against, I’m 100% in favor of it).

Whichever race they could apply it to, they were going to.

Some of you people are extremely naive at how companies work at it shows.

Same thing too with:
-Orc Stance Change
-Undead hiding their bones
-Nightborne Eyes
-Darker skin colours for Blood Elves
-Subraces for Trolls

hm.

I’m not interested in trying to give more of a spotlight to VEs at this time personally, I comment on Farstrider tattoos for Blood Elves because its a BE request and BEs have lost enough visual uniqueness, Blood Elf players should be better able to represent their own main theme than VEs.

I just at this time refuse to speak on what I’d like to see for my VEs because I feel it contributes to the possibility VEs will once again both either get something at the expense of BEs or simply take time from either BEs or any other core race that is more in need.

I didn’t say you were, I don’t feel if you read Mags line as a generalized frustration it really applies to you unless it was specified, it read more as a general complaint / concern they were airing while talking to you.

Yeah I agree, especially since that was afforded to VEs during the time set for core races and what was given to VEs was the visual uniqueness of the Blood Elves a core Horde race.

Every thread about any kind of customization does NOT need to be turned into “but void elves!?” and why they don’t deserve to be considered high elves.
It absolutely does not.

It’s about lack of customization. They’re on topic, trying to make sure one race doesn’t get customization, unless it’s just more ugly crap so people continue to funnel to their race that they can’t seem to decide that the secondary aesthetic, or third, or fourth, or fifth, is supposed to be because it’s not good enough.

No wonder Blood Elves didn’t get anything.
They don’t actually want anything.

Meanwhile, Night Elves have been asking for a posture and expression fix and, oh woops, they put it on the Horde model.
And tails? Worgen? Pff, put em’ on the Vulpera model.

Right… I’m sure you have some sort of citation for that.

Have you looked at the skintones dwarves had in Vaniilla? They already had a pretty wide range.

And while it is in a book, lorewise there is a dark skinned blood elf prior to the addition of the new skintones.

Maybe discord or another type of environment would better facilitate what you’re looking for? People will speak on what they speak on regardless because it a forum to do so.

Blood Elves were shafted in favor of the AR and that is what in this customization thread I choose to speak on, in addition to other such things I feel pertinent

It’s really just basic game development stuff.

You want people to be able to represent themselves.
It’s better to have more options than less, so long as it doesn’t utterly break themes.
Take the path of least resistance.

Social media people are more often than not going to take notes from posts that lay out what is wanted, why it can - and cannot - work, give references, and are quick and easy to draw information from.

Anybody who thinks what’s happening here is going to get the Blood Elves anything is precisely the reason we haven’t gotten anything. The Void Elf playerbase has done mostly nothing but ask for stuff, get harassed for it, and just kept on.
Blood Elves just cry somebody else got something, gets mad when something they wanted didn’t happen even though it made no sense for it to happen, then constantly reject the themes presented to them that do work, and are established.
Like, how do you make these types of people happy?

Spoiler alert: you don’t.
This is why it feels the devs are off doing their own thing. Who’d want to read this thead? (Sorry Linxy.)

Any other forum, the derailments would be considered spam, and potentially targeted harassment. But what do I know, it’s not like I have experience managing 10,000+ user forums.

If Blizzard truly wants to make steps towards improving their social spheres, they really need to add some active moderation.

I want to talk about Lightforged and Night Elves, but nope. It’s always buried by horde players crying about Blood Elves and derailing what’s supposed to be a central thread.
Like, no wonder people aren’t bothering to leave feedback here. Forum users are already a minority, but when it’s this miserable of an experience for people not in x clique? Holy hell.

That’s all I want. I’m done asking for stuff if we ever get good-lookong hairstyles for our males - Thats literally all I want

its not the same thing. a nightborne with a hand glow is still a nightborne

a void elf with blood elf skin tones and hair is still just an easter egg. if you thought it made sense for void elves to get blood elf themes too like farstrider tattoos your wouldnt be gaslighting this hard. your easter egg option is there and now you can feel it too cant you, that more effort will be put into separating them in the future

Blizz already said we can play subraces anyway. If they insist blood elves should have something because it’s high elf instead of actual belf unique stuff, then they are just setting themselves to be argued against.

Yes in an alternate universe.
Dwarves had some skin tones but nothing as dark human looking.
Regardless they still made sure to point it out in their marketing for each and every race that got it.

You and your little posse always cry about how people use discord to flag your posts. Get over yourself and stop replying to me.

To put it in perspective, I blocked you. I’ve TOLD you that I blocked you. I’m still getting pinged because you insist on interacting with me. Wow, imagine that?
You’re so focused on no one being able to look like you in a fantasy game that you always come here to make it known how much you hate void elves getting new skin tones. Back-handed “complements?” about RP tools. As if people haven’t been using them for ages. Dwarves had dark skins like dark irons, early on. Humans COULDN’T be black or asian. Trolls can now be sandfury or dark or whatever they please.

You know what. I HOPE you get your fabled RP tools for your favorite race so you can stop being so toxic.

If he’s talking about Devi, she was also a high elf, not a blood elf.

https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Devi

Devi is a [high elf] mage from an [alternate universe] and the apparent apprentice of [Krasus], the alias of the great [red dragon] Korialstrasz.

  • Devi was the only example of a dark-skinned Thalassian elf for years until playable [blood] and [void] elves got dark skintones in [Shadowlands], almost a decade after Devi’s debut.

What?

I was just trying to help you out on a forum we both use but thats why I tried brainstorming other ideas since you don’t seem to like the forum aspect of this place to speak on customizations.

Best of luck to you :hugs:

Yes, that’s why I said alternate universe.

And yet Krasus has also mentioned her in the main universe.

Not quite they went more grey as the went darker, but there’s some browns in there as well. Not like they had any lack of variety of skin tones.

OMG! They announced that they did something that people wanted!

I mean, they’re the same thing, so six of one half dozen of another.

Nah, because not every high elf is a blood elf.

They’re still biologically speaking the exact same damn thing.

And we never knew how she looked in the MU.

They didn’t lack it but they clearly were more dark iron than human.

Yes, and they pointed it out. “It’s for diversity”. Literally had en entire Blizzcon panel about it.
