Blood Elves should better represent their main and only theme than an AR with RP tools.
When grace is extended at some point its enough, yes no one side is more important than the other but BEs have lost visual uniqueness time and time again in favor of one side, so like Mag pointed out
I don’t think VEs will or should get them. Not a question of whether BEs will be getting them if they make the concept to be added.
We need look no further than this answer to Avaries question, apparently it was fine to allow VEs to gain a second visual theme at the expense of BE visual uniqueness at a time when they said was for core races, but the same energy in return is too much to be expected.
Indeed that’s another way to look at it: “So Horde Elves can go running around looking like Alleria and Alliance Elves cannot?”
I don’t see a future where that exists. The only thing I potentially see happening is if customization occurs again with BEs where they do get it first but then it later goes to VEs (like the ear size thing).
Or they might do like the skins and eye color and give to both at same time and be done with it.
Here’s a fun reference for a comparison on nelves with similar options to nightborne, and how bad NE posture and roided out features changed from classic to current.
It was not a unique scenario. Skintones were added to Kul’tirans and Mechagnomes as well, not because they were trying to favor them but because it was all part of the push for “diversity” and “represent yourself” that Blizzard wanted.
Real life politics or marketing, whichever you prefer to call it, influenced this to happen. Not any intention to undermine Belves.
“oh boy I heard Allieria is back! And she’s with the Alliance and those Void Elf guys! I never wanted to be in the Horde anyways, especially after seeing anybody talking publicly about how they don’t want to be Horde, brainwashed in the middle of a large crowed in the market 10 years ago! I should go find them! Especially because my whole family was killed by orcs, trolls, and undead and that always made me uncomfortable but somehow we had to ignore it.”
Tattoos for both.
Colour lock blue and red, and void and light.
Ain’t a hard concept and nobody’s stealing crap that doesn’t current exist on the player models.
given that they have only increased differentiation between night elves and nightborne with customization, i agree that it makes the potential addition of blood elf farstrider tattoos for void elves very hard to see coming to pass for void elves just because alleria was allowed to maintain them
plus most of the ARs came with tattoos where it made sense and the void elves have already embraced a gold and purple color void aesthetic. so why didnt they get them if thats where blizzard wanted them to go and not this new void theme?
Most likely both at the same time, doubt they will bother with separating the batch after they are done with the assets.
I do hope both of them get different designs anyway though.
Paelarin would 100% be a void elf now, given his hatred for trolls and now even more trolls joining the horde.
Paelarin is my spirit animal, trolls are disgusting.
But they weren’t added to trolls, orcs, draenei, or night elves who like void elves use a fantasy range of skin tones. As opposed to giving those with human skin tones a more complete range of options.
It was about time those options were added, and I always felt that if they added human skin tones to any race, they should get the whole range. But that void elves didn’t need that as they weren’t based on a realistic set of skintones in the first place.
definitely, anyone should have all the options to represent any added look, be it more bejeweled or scarred and tattooed bad-a. No race has come from a sheltered background, and in the same vein, none are completely impoverished and lacking in decorative touches
Same could’ve been said about skin tones, eye colors, and now hair colors. “Why weren’t they added at the beginning if that’s where they wanted them to go?”
Ummm it’s because they didn’t realize how many players wanted those options, and now they do. Hence why they get added after the fact.
Unless they became disillusioned or had family going and went to protect them or any number of other reasons.
I’m not saying all of them went along.
So what tattoos would be appropriate then if Alleria’s are entirely off the table?
What exactly to you and Mag constitutes Farstrider Tattoos?
Cause Void based tattoos could easily look exactly like hers…wavey and twisty. Or we could go with N’zoth ones but I’ve already had people tell me those are too much like Rommaths.
Hence… the next line after that.
I don’t mind that you or Mag feel they should be for Blood Elves only. Thats entirely fine. I’m not asking you to support my interests or views.
Well one I’m not gaslighting anything.
Two thats fine. Again that you feel they don’t deserve them doesn’t bother me. I think its a valid line of thinking to go down.
To be fair, I really do think they need to have considered at least doing something for belves at this time. Giving void elves two passes and Blood Elves being as they are really isn’t cool.
And again push comes to shove if Blizzard chooses to go with Farstrider tattoos only for Belves I’ll be cool with that.
I put forth a suggestion that gives both sides the tattoo concepts they’re looking for, while keeping differentiation, if folk reject it thats not a bad thing. Just means they rejected it.
