Why the lack of Customization?

i think that follows what they originally said when they gave velfs the skin color updates, rather than creating a separate playable high elf or half elf race. they just rolled them all into the elf races in general by letting all of us select human skin colors and ear mods, though nightborne still need ear shrinkage option.

Ironic considering you’ve been one to tell other helf fans to stop asking for more customizations.

Yeah and how were many of the NB options met with? An entire separate thread of people complaining about most of the options and comments asking to redo the entire model

How were the VE customizations met with? Bunch of thank yous and excitement and requests for a just a bit more variety in colors.

Maybe that’s why one side appears to be listened to over the other. The player responses from the customizations given are very different too.

If you wanna talk about us showing you the way then maybe try a lot of gratitude for what is given and a bit of humility in asking for more. Oh and patience.

Never has any Velf/Helf request been ‘we need it now!!’ whereas a lot of the NB/BE complaints are ‘and what do we get in return for it’ , ‘they need to work on us now, it’s only fair!’ and ‘these new NB options are a travesty I don’t think I’m asking for much by telling you to redo the model’

You’re not “wrong” for behaving the way you do, but there’s a clear difference in the player response owing to the difference in CM responses I’d say.

Eh, it was kinda loosely phrased. I can see how you read that way, I read the statement as more of a nod to that past and not necessarily the whole shebang.

Snarky phrasing aside, I was more pointing out the rapidity and repeated nature of the announcement of the options added to the void elves as opposed to the other options.

Nope.

I’ve just been arguing that I think that that was a stupid idea. Never argued that you shouldn’t ask. That was you guys telling us that we’re not allowed to like something you don’t like and we needed to ask for new things rather than ask for something we liked not to be destroyed.

The worse I’ll cop to is that I’ve probably mentioned the bad taste of the continual cycle of getting something and immediately asking for more and that it might look better to be thankful and cool your jets for a bit while other people get stuff.

I agree and I think all races could use that, I don’t remember what thread I posted that in yesterday but I think every race with jewelry options and many other things need a color wheel to customize it to your own personal liking, like for me I’d do the Blood Elf tiara in silver or rose gold with pink gems.

Excuse me then, many in your posse have.

I never said this. “Not allowed to like something you don’t like” is so vague too, what is it you liked that ‘we’ did not?

If you’re referring to many people telling you to ask for what you’d like to see instead of trying to deny options to another side…well look at where are we today, BE fans wondering how did Blizz come up with the BE options for SL.

Hmm, maybe because so many of the ardent BE fans were too busy squabbling around trying to prevent options from happening on another race.

Also this Tarrok. Some people may have to accept they don’t play as popular a race, thus less fans of them = less fanfare whenever things get added.

prolly cause they said, hey we’'re listening. whatcha want? and of course, velfs were like woot, black hair? some more hairstyles? honestly, i thought they had already given us white hair, but apparently it was platinum blonde. they just gave us white hair and black yesterday. i was already happy. lol

I’d argue this is a combination of two things.

First, we’ve been told that when they asked us which Allied Races we got, their #1 response, as in the most requested, most people asked, most discussed race, was High Elves. So, those customizations are going to intereste a wider audience. Whether you wanted High Elves or didn’t, those announcements will impact you somehow.

Secondly, the increase in communication is possibly new top-down orders that are a sign for a change in the positive direction, or we’re looking at someone trying to distract as many players as possible from the lawsuit and the state of the game. Maybe even a little both.

Either way, the two play into each other, as they’re going to want to hit as big of an audience as possible. Adding in the Highmountain Tauren options now feels like they’re trying to spread the net a bit wider.

The problem is a lot of people aren’t happy with what has been given and don’t feel like they have been acknowledged with the feedback they have given which has bothered them and continues to bother them, case and point your interactions earlier in this thread show that and although I would like to personally think there isn’t a favoritism going on for any one race it would be nice for the two main races Nightborne and Lightforged Draenei of this upcoming patch to get acknowledgement of what they have said they want, don’t want, still want, like, dislike, etc.

Yeah, but it just seems concentrated on one group is the feeling. It just feels like one group is getting answered over and over and others are left hanging. Just the feeling.

we are, if nothing else, verbose and vain. hehe

The pessimist in me thinks the reason we’re getting little feedback on that point is because the customizations we’re seeing added for Nightborne, Lightforged Draenei, and now Highmountain Tauren, were all created months ago and then left sitting because someone didn’t want to include customizations in 9.1.

If that is the case, there might be a legitimate lack of time to make changes or add new options based on feedback before 9.1.5 goes live. Personally, I don’t see why they can’t give us a, ‘Your feedback has been passed along to the Development Team working on customizations. There’s no time table for when this feedback can be considered or even made into new customizations, but the team will be reviewing them thoroughly for the future. Thanks for your feedback, keep it coming!’

nightborne could use more human skin tones so more hair colors could happen. and ear size mods

This would be nice because it’s simple and right to the point.

Yeah, I had hoped for like red or pink skintone and pink hair and they got neither which sucks.

And there’s the “Don’t ask for what you want” again

Yes yes, you think your group is the only one that matters and screw everyone else.

You have to give it context though. People when it came to NB are literally wanting the NPC model, which btw is the way it is with faces because they literally don’t do any of the player emotions like the playable races do. They made the eyes smaller, which I think is huge but the NB player response has been a small thank you of that and then continuing to request a re-do of the entire model.

Compare that to the ask for normal hair colors, which were also not new assets. The ask of each are very different, one is a huge ask and the other is relatively small. So of course one can be responded to more quickly.

Ely Cannon already stated that the more popular races will often get more options, it’s just the nature of the beast, they’re not going to spend as much time on things people don’t play, which makes sense.

But ofc, I also would urge people to not minimize how much NB and LFD gained. Like I said this post on MMO-C with the new options shows how much was gained.

People act like ‘VE are getting so much’, how can anyone say that with a straight face looking at that page.

Since we want more representation in the game, I think they need to allow Human males to have straight noses on narrow faces, like the nose options on the round face type. They should also make a buzzed haircut that looks more like a caucasian with buzzed hair, or a flat top that is not as high as the “soldier” hairstyle.

Well you still didn’t answer me, where has it gotten you today? You kept asking for that. What results has it produced for you?

This could be said for BE fans too, so many options for so long and yet still act as if you’ve been left on the wayside.
