It’s possible for a character to not worship the player without also being an arrogant posterior who vastly overrates his own importance in any given situation.
His Alliance equivalent Halford Wyrmbane strikes a decent balance. The way he’s written in the Alliance war campaign has him treat the player as a peer, not a superior, and he commands his forces without throwing insults every 0.05ms.

I’m just going off what the lore has given us to prove to you Nathanos isn’t some random character out of nowhere and that Tryande and Mulfurion aren’t demi-gods when Elune herself isn’t all that powerful to begin with, more or less the same power of a Loa and was completely unable to stop the Burning of Teldrassil, the Legion invasion and annihilation of the world tree.
Yes, turn out if you shoot people in the back of the head they tend to die. And Sylvanas in the End Time dungeon might’ve been before she made full contact with the Jailer and became a Mary Sue herself.

I don’t feel like digging it up right now, but I read a lengthy and pretty convincing theory that End Time occurs after the events of BfA, and that the only thing in Azeroth’s future that has actually been changed is that Deathwing will no longer be instrumental in bringing it about and won’t be impaled on Wyrmrest Temple. The rest will still come to pass.
He was the only human ranger at quel thalas. Sylvanas vouched for him to get in that’s why he is so loyal even in death. I recently did the classic quests and it’s all explained.
Are you talking about Steve Danuser? Because if you are, you actually fell for fake new, which is funny. He does that for literally every character he writes, literally every character. Someone took three tweets about Nathanos, put them together, and claimed that the writer as a self-insert for Nathanos. He quotes Medivh, Jaina, Saurfang, Tyrande, baiscally everyone he writes for. He works on a lot of quest dialog and comic dialog for all people and likes to tweet about them.
I agree we are in short supply of characters with strong personality traits.
Most of the complaints are how blizzard handled the crap, at most they mention nathanos shouldve been just a crater left by moonfire, to be honest i believe most compaints about nathanos are because of his sycopanthic behavior that makes him look like a beta, henpecked simp.
I believe this is more what you would like to see but only nathanos offers this to you, so you go ahead and defend him, for the record im also tired of being the hero/champion/chosen then proceed to get ignored on the next patch, making me a non entity entirely disconnected from the narrative, sometimes im referred as champion but other times its as if i didnt exist, when ive killed gods and titans in the setting, this breakes disbelief.
He stood around in the plaugelands with his dogs being a hermit forever, then he got a makeover, the beginning of the end!

A: People who hate Sylvanas and hate Nathanos for being a simp.
B: People who simp for Sylvanas and hate Nathanos for taking the spotlight.

He’s an insufferable boor.
It’s because he just treats you like garbage. He doesn’t have to fawn all over you (that’s equally bad) but he talks down to us like we’re some peon (zugzug) constantly. “Speaker of the Horde. Hmph.” and so on. He’s like the boss’s wife (or husband in this case) who is just a jerk to everybody but you can’t say anything or point it out, you’re expected to just take the abuse.
I dislike Sylvanas’ story in BFA but I’d let her get a redemption arc as much as it pains me if it means we get to kill Nathanos for all the arrogant condescending talk he’s given us.
While I don’t care for being a champion of Azeroth or anything. However, I do have enough skins on the wall where I shouldn’t have to take orders from a lowlife nobody like Nathanos.
If the war chief needs me to do something for the horde then she should find someone to inform me that has some sort accomplishments besides sleeping with her.
I don’t wish to take orders from Warcraft’s version of Kevin Federline.
Nathanos is a jerk when i’m on my tauren monk. But when I’m on my blood elf demon hunter, he is my number one crush. (Closely followed by Wrathion). He really is a terrible person, but he is pretty charming I’ll give ya that.

Yeah. He kinda is, but that is why I like him.
