How does starting at zero even work? Can you go negative? The best players were +1000 over starting elo. How do we get +2000?
To bring about better matchmaking in Burning Crusade Classic, we’re updating the Matchmaking Rating (MMR) system to use a calculation design developed after original Burning Crusade, with an MMR range that will be similar to the range seen in PvP in 2008.
I mean to be clear you keep saying the ratings will be inflated when the information provided says they’re going to be using a calculation to keep MMR similar to TBC range. Which makes 2050/2200 much more competitive then say 2050/2200 in retail.
But alas I’ll leave it to y’all to talk in circles. I’m pretty confident when S1 ends we’ll see a low amount of participation due to these changes. Which, despite what some say, isn’t actually healthy for a ladder. But I always intended to focus on PVE over PVP for classic. All this means is I won’t bother with arena since I only intended to casually play it with my brothers. Shame but hope y’all are right and you enjoy it. I’ll still enjoy TBC for what I’m mainly focused on doing. Good luck.
They should’ve made the rating requirements the same as they were in season 4. The weps are good but not godly. Most people won’t even see 1800+ let alone 2k. People will quit arena before it even starts and just stick to pve.
We need players to fill each bracket. Player participation makes arena much more fun. How many elitist RMPs do you want to fight?
The game was certainly not designed so that you can smurf lower brackets for free epics.
You end up playing against the same teams regardless. This change doesn’t change anything in that regard.
People in retail being able to cruise to 2100 and get all the PvP gear they want to do their M+ dungeons and Mythic rating is a bad thing. I don’t see how this is an argument.
Less people will push high ratings and that’s a good thing. Bad players shouldn’t get top gear lol.
You just get a ton more points for a win and you barely lose anything until you approach 1500. So if I face you and we are both 50 rating for example and I win, I get like 50 points and you lose 0. Until your mmr approach’s your CR or until we get near 1500 you don’t lose anything. Our MMR will start at 1500 but our CR is 0 if that makes sense
Rating requirement is fine as it does keep the prestige of obtaining the gear, however consistent rating requirement is beyond horrible. Blizzard, you guys are the biggest clowns in gaming. Just when I think Blizzard can’t do anything that would lessen my opinion of them being totally inept. They start a new circus and the devs are the starting act. My god… What are the meetings like and just how do these ideas get the OK and implemented? Blizzard you guys are straight clowns. Horrible change. And the tornados… You’re kidding right???
they do the same treatment with retail pvp atm and its really bad to see what they are doing and these changes are even worst, you earn an item, but then lose ratings, lol can’t use that item again, what the fudge is this
Lmao you guys asked for changes and you got them. This is all deserved
Actually it quite literally was but ok
Yeah if you got to 2500 or so then yes. But not when you are sitting at 1700. Because there were so many people at that rating you got a ton more teams. Take the average 1700 rating player and now make them the average 1400 player and you are creating issues for everyone
I don’t think we are talking about retail here bud
Idk if you’re reading anything I’m saying but I’m saying the gear req on top of the rating change is what’s the issue. They can keep the rating change for all I care as long as they make teams start at 1500.
I’m not asking for casuals to get shoulders and weapons for nothing. I’m saying give them SOME incentive so it doesn’t die.
and thats one stupid argument, the more people do one activity and the more popular it gets, the more attention it can get, best players will always get the best rewards no matter what, a dead bracket is not fun for anyone
I’m reading everything you are writing, and it’s all a massive cope. You don’t actually care about casuals not being able to get epics, you care about your alts not being able to smurf the ratings.
I got that part. The problem is you created a sample size that fits your argument to prove your point leaving the CLEAR differences between large and samll player base as some kind of minor detail.
That is to say you made a poor argument that anyone could see through.
It still falls under the issue of population differences. Also 50% is entierly made up number of how many people you think are not going to play because of this change.
What is CR? character rating?
Current rating.
I know there are tons and tons of Paladin tanks that were going to grind for their Gavel that will just skip arena and never touch it, myself included. The rating requirement to wear gear makes PVP even more of a grind just to enjoy the rewards you already gained for yourself. Please Blizzard, stop adding these kinds of things without community feedback. We didn’t vote for Classic+ and this seems a little bit out of left field in the context of “some changes”
Have not been keeping up on these changes at all, this is truly bizarre. To me it seems they are seeing big eSports (puke) potential with this one, whether misguided or not.
Sounds awful.
I know retail arenas are absolutely abysmal, but would many people honestly care about an esports scene for a 15 year old game?
Man that’s quite the assumption lol. I don’t play alts bud I don’t have time for that nonsense anymore.
You are right tho I do care about me myself and I. And if the casuals leave the arenas, it kills arena participation. I think you vastly underestimate how many casuals play arenas and their impact on how the system works.
and it’s something that no pvp’er asked for - regardless of if they are a fan or not no one asked for it
Agreed 100% (sorry if that wasnt clear), these are trash changes.
