There’s much deeper issues with wow. It’s not just “wait it out”. I had so much more fun in every expansion prior to WoD. Once the devs started their war on flying it was a slow descent into terrible design decisions. Good for you that you think it’s the greatest game in the world without flaws. I personally hate what wow has become over the past 7 years.
I will say it had about a year maybe a year and a half of REALLY enjoyable time and that was Legion from 7.2 to the end.
I’m sorry you feel that way and hope you enjoy ff but i’ve seen many many people feel the way you do for every xpack wow has put out. I’ve seen people say they quit in wrath b/c it wasn’t as good to them as TBC.
Some of its just naturel and wow has plenty of people who love it and will keep playing it even if you’re gone.
Games that have ran as long as wow don’t die b/c someone didn’t like to wait on a flightpath.
I don’t need story mode force fed to me for an MMORPG to have RPG characteristics. For example: The story that I’m interested in is the story that spontaneously emerges as a result of game play. That is the “story” that is, in my opinion, the CORE of what makes playing RPG style games unique and interesting to me. This other stuff linear, force fed, story crap is much better provided by reading a book or watching a movie.
Same! I’m kinda a hoarder when it comes to glams. So I’m always swapping stuff out and storing other stuff, and it’s just frustrating. The edge XIV has when it comes to glams is dyes. But if you combined the two systems? It’d literally be perfect!
Which is just another example of where both games could learn from one another to improve…
Actually. I think they used to have something like that in XIV with hard-mode dungeons, but idk how that system works. We haven’t seen any hard dungeons lately and it makes me sad. And I def understand your concerns about toxicity. But I do respect the way M+ works in concept and wish that idea could find a home in XIV in some form.
Deep dungeons (which are more like Torghast really) used to be my fav infinite dungeon content, but that got cut w/ ShB because of Covid iirc.
I’m not trying to sound insulting. I’m really not. But if you think that’s true, you clearly haven’t cleared the latest Savage tier, let alone set foot into any Ultimate fights.
I won’t ignore the similarity and I think you’re right that Raids are glorified trials at this point. But there absolutely is a difference in mechanical complexity in raids that isn’t present in EX Trials. Not to even speak on Ults.
And again, it’s okay if you like wow’s way of handling raids more. It’s just a matter of “Dungeon-type raid” vs “Trial-type raid” preference. But for me? I don’t care all that much as long as I’m being challenged. Trash isn’t what makes a raid for me. It’s the bosses. But if I wanted trash and that dungeon-raid experience… well XIV at least has Alliance raids to cover the that, though admittedly they aren’t nearly as difficult.
Most of them enjoy it and it can be really cool but there’s no real content outside of storytelling in FF.
Most of the same is around you doing immersive quest as you feel special and patting you on the back. It really cashing with wows design where most rewards need effort to get.
Because Im not comparing difficulty – mechanically and functionally Trials and Normal Raids are the same thing. Ultimates are their own entirely different thing which is why I dont mention them.
They are both 8 man, 1 boss instances with harder mechanics than their normal version that serve to make the fights harder and put more communication at the forefront.
The difference is that Raids have their overarching story and a loot lockout. Outside of those two things, they function exactly the same. I dont have to do an Ultimate (nice gatekeep btw) to know two things that look, act, and function the same way are probably the same thing.
Well that’s kind of my point… why are there so many people her proselytizing about FFXIV? Go play the game if that’s your jam. There’s no need to come to WoW to “nah nah I like this other game better and everyone still playing WoW is a shill and looser for not jumping on the FFXIV bandwagon. I’m one of the popular kids and you’re not!”
Okay fair let me clarify. The content outside of storytelling is STILL very very story driven and leaves out alot of gameplay to make it seem bigger then it really is.
in wow you get to the meat of playing and doing things while ff kinda…stretching it out and makes you feel more important for doing it.
