Why say tendies?

That was some real :poop: you just said.

Because I feel like it.

It’s not supposed to be a positive association.

The “tendies” meme is about kids/adults who are either on the spectrum or just poorly socialised, living at home and depending on their mother to feed them.

Chicken tenders are a popular food amongst that group (probably because of the taste/texture and how inoffensive the food is)

I guess the connection is 1. The word is close
2. You’re awarded them for doing basic chores much like a kid might get their favourite dinner for cleaning their room

I hate it with the fires of a thousand burning suns.

I’m not a huge fan of it either, but it’s tolerable.

However, I do hate the word “unironically” with the same amount of passion.

That one doesn’t bother me as much, but that’s because I’ve read Brit Lit from the 20s that uses it. Properly, of course. lol

It’s the improper usage that gets me. And that’s pretty much everywhere.

I believe the origin of this was 4chan. Nothing bad. Just “good boys get chicken nuggies” Tendies is a variant of it for chicken tenders instead of nuggets

I’m guessing we have a streamer or youtuber to thank for it. My guess is Taliesin since he’s the one who gave us Zappy Boi (it hurt typing that).

Nah its more old internet stuff

Out of all the things that would cause me to have an unnecessary hysterical meltdown… It would be this versus all others

I have no idea what that is.

I am fun at parties. Parties where 0 people say tendies. I’m more of a professional academic type.

This is what I was seeking. This makes perfect sense. Thank you sir.

I’m not pontificating. If you kept up you’d see my premise was “tendies” is a typical dumb internet thing but I allowed I was misinformed or missing something. The post I quoted above proved I indeed missed some things and I thanked them for the education. Not everyone is a raging lunatic on these forums. When I ask a question it’s not a veiled insult.

My least favorite is “cringe” instead of “cringey” and “fire” instead of anything else.

Eww. Why would anyone perpetuate something from 4chan? That place is a cesspit of icky.

That’s just my opinion, but the whole “chicken tendies” thing is originally from like 4chan or something, and basically all their memes are steeped in incel/socially inept/outcast/neurodovergent culture

I call them Tenderoncinies because it is even longer and that makes people even madder!

Bwahahaha!

(I never called them that in my life. I just find the OP’s complaint pretty ridiculous)

Boi instead of boy is another dumb one. I don’t get the point of it.

That also makes sense. So why would any normal person perpetuate that madness?

expect tendies ISH soon…

So asking a question because something seems dumb but you allow you might be missing something is a complaint now?

Who is having a meltdown?

The 2020 version of replacing ‘c’ with ‘k’ or ‘s’ with ‘z’ from the 90s.

Basically all these word/spelling memes, are just in-jokes for online/gaming culture.

Someone does a funny and uses a word or alters the spelling.
People share the funny.
Others copy the funny format (or “template”) and add their own spin.
It gets shared around until a new funny pops up or until an advertising agency for a corporation tries to make the meme into a marketing campaign.
