Even in M+, with no downtime (the fact you guys don’t know how to look at the DPS of “in combat” only worries me), they’re still not doing 1m more than other tanks.
Best is 1.5m for entire combat duration
No because that includes the downtime of the last few mobs that are often pulled into the next pack. As an easy example:
Mobs total HP: 20 Mil.
Pally DPS: 2 Mil
War DPS: 1 Mil
Pally 20 mil dmg/2mil DPS = 10 seconds
War 20 mil dmg/1mil DPS = 20 seconds
Takes 10 seconds to pull to the next pack/get out of combat with last mob.
2 Mil DPS/20 seconds = 1 mil DPS
1 Mil DPS/30 seconds = 666k DPS.
So the log shows a pally is only doing 340k more than a war, but in reality, the pally is actually doubling his damage.

What kind of logic is this? Why would you not include the entire encounter and only the peak burst? That’s some real goal post moving you got there. Does your back hurt?
Whenever anyone talks about M+ damage they are almost always talking about Overall numbers unless it’s specified otherwise.

I was telling you to back out of the argument you self-inserted yourself into.
As of right now in high keys Brewmaster and BDK are not far behind Prot Pally on DPS. Those two are currently fighting for last place because both have been seriously harmed by the self sustain/self healing changes. Both seem to be having threat issues as well which is likely because they are busy trying to not be killed.
VDH is next in line and I would be willing to bet if they fixed it so VHD didn’t need to kite it would be a bit higher.
Bear is next after that and honestly in not to bad of a place overall considering its by far the most simple of the tanks… could still use some QOL/gameplay changes.
War is dead last in high key DPS but considering they are also by far the most durable its probably a good place for them to be right now.
Seems War and Bear need more help in raid than they do M+. Brew and BDK are decent in raid but really bad in M+. Then VDH is kind of in the middle.

Yeah BDK’s biggest challenge in high keys is surviving big hits and avoiding one-shots. If they can survive the hit they can still heal themselves up. Paladins are kind of in that boat too, but we have a bit more in our tool kit. Both Paladins and BDK really needs good group utility usage.

Far easier to nerf one spec than to buff everyone else. I would love for them to do some decent balancing and bring everyone up to scratch for once, but sadly it won’t happen. The issue as OP said is because paladin as no AOE cap, and because their shield toss also acts as a shield, it means they can pull big to do lots of damage AND have some huge added defenses.
The rest of the tanks and most DPS having AOE caps tells me pulling big is not a design choice and not how Blizzard balance, because if you pull 5-7 enemies in each pull, most classes perform quite similar so to Blizzard there is no real issue.

I’m saying yours is not comparable because it’s much more specific (blue haired, woman). The message comes across as “you’re acting like a blue haired woman”, the “screaming into a camera” part is kinda overlooked as you’ve decided to be specific about the type of person we should expect to be screaming into cameras, there’s no room for interpretation. Apparently blue haired women scream into cameras because of their given traits.

OK, so, you and Snoz can be very confronting when it comes to m+. But, if anyone was interested in debating the actual facts and future buffs/nerfs, getting into a shouting match isn’t exactly the best way to do it.
If they had only been better about showing what they were talking about and being open to being told “that’s not how it works” then we could have had a reasonable conversation.
