Why on earth was the decsion to lose Stgyia on death in the maw for?

Man, I remember when we all used to gather around the wireless to listen to the latest instalment of a radio play before standing for God Save the Queen and heading off to bed with a cup of Milo.

As a certain obnoxious megalomaniacal orc was fond of saying, “TIMES CHANGE.”

How do people die running backwards and forwards between 2 points to collect 20 souls?

Can’t you just go back to your corpse and collect it?

This.
It’s not at all easy to die in the maw, if you are minimally careful.

I honestly only remember dying there once (between my main and 2 alts) and that was only because I was a bit drunk and back flipped off the edge

Because people said for years that they wanted “more challenging world zones”.

Turns out they were lying, btw.

Are classic Andy’s last names Dinkleberg?

If so "dinklebeerrrg!’

You think all those years of looting NPC corpses wasn’t going to haunt you some day? A lot of players have a lot of stgyia karma coming back at them for all those candles they took…hic!

It’s to slow things down. Every bad decision that has been made for this expansion is to slow you down. “Time played” is the dev goal. Not fun, not satisfaction, not enjoyment. “Time played” is the end all and be all of Shadowlands.

Why people get upset about losing stygia is beyond me. All the valuable upgrades are rep gated and you can’t lose rep. The only reason I ever have enough stygia on me to care about how much I lost is that I don’t have the rep on that character yet to spend it.

Maybe it’s different if you’re doing hardcore socket grinding – but by that time you SHOULD be geared enough to survive anything except very high eye levels, and sticking around with that is a choice you make.

And then people would show up to Dynamis with no exp cushion, delevel and be unable to wear some of their gear. LOLs were had by all.

Although the person who posted upthread that people came to WoW to get away from harsh death penalties somewhat had a point, too. When WoW came out it was by far the most casual-friendly MMO on the market. You could solo to max level just by doing quests! Most mobs were (and still are) significantly weaker than an equal level player!

The Suramar Nobles District proved that some people really don’t like any exceptions to the formula of “if it’s outdoor, it’s trivial”, even in a limited area.

The doom games were also in hell… but they were somehow fun to play… hmmmm big think time… could it be blizz made the maw to just waste as much player time as possible for time played metric instead of fun… nahhhhhhhhh

Its a video game, it is supposed to be fun, if you want “moving a mountain of sand one grain at a time” the mmo then current wow is a perfect game

It’s like video games in movies and books. When you die you lose all your stuff. Don’t forget that you can farm condensed stygia from the vault, which you cannot lose.

This is it. You’re forced to manage your risk. Start your quests early in the week and spread them out so you don’t die as much with high threat.

My potato as you call it has I7 9th generations and 5700xt and I still disconnect/ The most likely reason for a disconnect is the tower that is used to connect to the game gets too many people. Thus, some lose connections. That they fail to upgrade the router.

They’re trying to make WoW more exciting to watch on livestreams. This kind kind of stuff is great for revving up audiences.

losing stygia? ehh, i’m ok with some sort of penalty on death of losing something like coin or currency.

I’m not ok with crafting a zone with the pure intention of slowing down user progress through forced walking, and intentionally making pathing somewhat linear forcing you to constantly go through mob packs just to do anything.

the Maw is one of the worst zones, with it’s affixes that Blizzard has ever forced on the player base… Which is amazing considering its coming off Nazjata, which also was one of the worst zones Blizzard has ever released. This is a trend of zone design that started a while ago, but has been beaten over our heads in the last few patches.

… The Maw isn’t a disgruntled wife filing for divorce, though…

“They played Dark Souls and thought, lets give this a shot.”

The GD is starting to look like the Facebook comment section with all the hyperbole, anger, and tears.
