Why LGBT representation in games matters:

LOL I mean, you’re not wrong. Although, I was glad to have a little in-game representation in SL though even if it was between a unicorn and a moose (anything in any of the other covenants? I’d be a little disappointed if the only LGBT+ representation was in the fairy cov. That would be like a swing and a miss. Absolutely hilarious, but still a miss.)

But aside from that I would be really interested to know more about the office culture of Blizz (I’m not making allegations here, I’ve just been fascinated by this question ever since I came back to the modern game because it’s not what I was expecting.) Do their game decisions reflect a 19th-century style old boys club, or do we see a lot of these kinds of, frankly strange, decisions being made just because they’re afraid of rocking the boat? I mean, the gender stereotypes in the game in general are just kind of really inappropriate in the 21st century. This isn’t just about having LGBT+ representation. Look at the model options for men vs women (How about skinny men and iron women?). Look at the clothing, or even how jewellery appearances were added for women but not men in some races (especially humans, which seem to be the most conservative of the races. No tattoos, no piercings, etc, but orcs and trolls, which have a safe “otherness” have had them for ages) It seems to me that they feel it’s safer to play around with the other races a little more, but in general the gender stereotypes are still soundly reinforced. Even powerful women like Tyrande had to fight in high heels (I mean really?!) until she became the night warrior and was finally given sensible shoes. The antiquated gender stereotypes are pervasive, even down to these little details.

They’ve been slowly making strides in the right direction, but there is a LOT to fix to bring it out of the 19th century and into the 21st. It’s going to take time. They could move a little quicker, to be sure, but it still can’t possibly happen overnight. That said, I should hope they have some on-staff representation guiding them because it’s hard for anyone to write stories about people whose experience they cannot comprehend. I know I would have a hard time writing a story from a straight person’s perspective.

You can believe whatever you want bud but the only thing that’s nonsense is these threads thinking they speak for all gay people.

Plenty of gay people in these threads have said no and disagreed with them and yet you all ignored them.

Just goes to show how homophobic of your own community that you are.

Are you a part of the LGBTQIAAP+? If you are not, you can’t generalize like that. Some of us would like to see more inclusion in all aspects, as it’s becoming more and more accepted in today’s growing progressive climate.

@OP: No WE don’t and no we don’t.

Look at all these threads and look specifically at the comments made by the gay people.

They said no. You just gonna ignore the people from your own community who disagree with you?

I have more posts on my main but I don’t feel like swapping the characters. Also I’m no troll, I’m a human! And there’s nothing wrong with being a virgin - too much drama in cavorting with other people hornily

They Already have fairies in Ardenweild.

The replies on this thread are the reason why a lot of people don’t want more representation in the game - gamers too toxic uwu

Most of the NPCs we interact with don’t show their orientation…nor should they as it wouldn’t fit the story line(s).

You could just assume that 1 out of 20 you interact with is…there, problem solved.

I’m Bi and i couldn’t give a rats behind about lgbt characters. theres almost 0 romance in this game even of the straight variety and most of that comes from outside the game and they were just kinda forced to add it. its rarely ever addressed on top of that so why the heck would they add lgbt relationships in?

so explain to me why a multi-billion dollar company needs to bend to the whimsy of your sexual orientation??

“I like kissing and touching other guys even though I’m a guy…we need to see that in game.”

so to make you feel better, we have to forgo the feelings of all other players that either don’t want to see that, don’t care to see it, think it has no place as to enhancing the storyline or just outright think its a bad idea?

Did any of you who advocated for the inclusion ever stop to think that with titles or icons indicating you were LGBTQ+, that you may because of it be denied raid / party invites or just at worst be putting a target on your back?

start a guild that denotes your identity then you can get over trying to change the game as a whole and still be happy.

…i.e. get over yourselves, you’re not anymore special than the rest of us.

It’s hilarious they demand equality, then lose their :poop: when someone else asks for the same thing. How many hateful posts are there against people asking for a straight tabard? I would venture to say close to as many as there are against the LGBT tabard. The straight covenant arguement is dumb, too. I’m still not sure which one it’s supposed to be, since no one has answered me.

You call it out like that’s the only reply you can think of when someone disagrees with you.

It doesn’t mean what you think it does.
