Im to the point they might as well just release cata. Sweatlords gatekeep icc with ridiculous GS requirements. Nobody wants to raid anything other than icc and RS. Even VOA you kill 1 boss and leave. So yea might as well have something new.

Well said and written though we and most reasonable people think cata lacks staying power and we seem to both know that cata will fail. I think sod will be a good place until they drop a stronger expansion like mop. Though I am more excited for a possible tbc+.

Reddit is a much better indicator of Era popularity.
Threads asking for Wrath era don’t get a lot traction.
Cataclysm threads are slowly popping up.
Cataclysm YT content is growing daily.
SoD is the meta. No one wants to talk about anything else.
The outcry for Classic Ear with TBCC release was like x1000 times louder. And yet, no one stayed behind. Maybe like 200 people.
If you enjoy Wrath designs/systems/gameplay, you are likely to enjoy Cataclysm. It’s more similar to Wrath, than Wrath was to TBC.

What, like r/classicwow? That sub is so incredible fickle, it’ll downvote everything that isn’t in vogue. When hardcore started it was all about hardcore, yet there was 0 mention of Wrath being dead at that point, so it’s curious there is now.
That absolutely depends on what role and class you play, for a lot of specs/roles this could absolutely not be further from the truth.

Sure, Paladins were changed to combo system. Warlocks now have shards.
Rest plays pretty much the same.
Yes, it has issues, however, there are still thousands of unique users. Here you have zero post alt army spam.
It’s not perfect, but it’s certainly the best place to grasp the idea whether or not people want Wrath Era. There is no other place on the web with more people talking about WoW.
Unless you’re a healer, a tank, a hunter or a dk of course.
Yeah, if you played a mono cat or an enhancement shaman it plays virtually the same. If not there’s some pretty radical changes.
Warriors go from being super immobile to being virtually impossible to lock down too.
It’s an echo chamber to the max and all done without moderators outright nuking dissenting posts.
Plays the same. Yes, it got focus, but you still have your fillers like Steady Shot, just now it’s to generate focus instead of mana. It’s virtually the same.
tank? You still tank. Use cooldowns.
healer? You still heal. Use cooldowns.
You’re acting as if healing and tanking remained absolutely the same from Vanlla to Wrath. Or any other spec for that matter. The only spec that remained the same is really just Frost Mage. Rest of the specs went though really big changes from TBC to Wrath.
DK is not that different either.
Either way, if you’re not gonna play, just don’t play it.
There is literally no point for you to waste your own time discussing Cataclysm, Why?
Validating your choice? Trying to convince others not to play? Why? Just move on with your life.

bc ill be honest the whole rdf thing fightin trolls we did for 1-2 yrs took a lot out of me lol.
I don’t want a progressive server that is why I am playing an old expansion, let me stay in wrath forever and take 10 years to level up all characters and professions I want

To be fair, it seems the only real change to basic gameplay for Frost Mage between Wrath and Legion (when I started playing the class) is the removal of any non-Frost spells (and Frostfire Bolt), which didn’t matter since resists/immunity had stopped being a thing outside of some ancient equipment.

Half the Classic population doesnt like Wrath and those who are super die hard Wrath fans are low in number. Most people jumped off Wrath either in p2, the release or the token, or recently cus ICC is done and SoD is out.
Most of the guilds IK whove stuck through on the progression servers since 2019 are excited to switch to 10 man raiding in CATA.

Because if you look at WOTLK now… its in full collapse in population.
Sure, when SOD first hit, it made a little sense. But thats been in perg for a while now until the next phase hits. WOTLK really didn’t recover in that window. Kinda shows that when the new shiny comes out people move on in this community.
You know I was in retail today and… it was empty… So I suspect that players are either in the dragon flight area or in SoD or left wow all together and just to check I went to SoD and… another dead server…
everyone on sod prolly chilling until p2 that’s coming.
retail the game is dead and everyone afk in towns. will be dead mostly until tww.
wrath is steady but harder to do this end game.
i think a lot of ppl just waiting on updates and stuff so it’s cruise control atm
