Why isn't PvP Scaled?

its basically about a clinically insane forum troll that was perma banned, and their series of sock puppets.

It’s for “progression”!!! We need to feel rewarded!

And that reward happens to be that you get to stomp the crap out of people without gear! :joy:

Also, templates and scaling were tried but people hated templates because they couldn’t pick their secondary stat distributions and they couldn’t get scaling quite right so it was massively abused.

I feel like they could easily overcome this by just making templates that only scale your secondary stats but even that could be exploited probably.

The real reason templates were hated by many hardcore pvp players was because it was during legion. Templates weren’t the main problem in Legion pvp nearly as much as artifact grind was.

Legion was by far one of the grindiest pvp seasons with the artifact levels providing additional stamina. In a season when everything was designed to have clean balancing with stats, the Artifact created a huge grind to gain an advantage. This also made playing alts a pain as there weren’t catchup mechanics in a meaningful fashion until far into the expansion.

BFA doubled down with this and made it even worse especially after corruptions were added. Playing any meaningful alts during these expansions was damn near impossible with a massive grind and extreme RNG contributing (legendaries/corruptions/etc) to two of the worst expansions for pvp ever.

I think this expansion has been the best by far since WoD but it still has problems. The main issue being trying to do arena late in a season to gear up an alt can be a nightmare.

If they ever introduce scaled PvP again they should at least do it in arena or RBGs. Players need at least some portion of the game to be balanced so they can have an even playing field to learn their classes.

There is no safe space for new players to learn the game, save for the start of a season, and that means less returning players who try pvp.

Templates suck, they away creative freedom

unless they are doing rated, they get their own bracket where they only fight other new players

Thing is most Gladiators or even 1800 players don’t ever queue 40+ so I don’t know where people are getting this. There is always an excuse to why a player is bad, gear, comp. , gate keeping. It is always something.

Thing you don’t understand is if you are skilled then you have some past rating. Second, high skilled players attract other high skilled players and like to play together. A few of my Real ID friends or PvP communities I met while doing battlegrounds. They like my skills or play-style and invited me either to their community or as a Real ID friend.

I don’t really do Epics, but as far as not having to attain gear I disagree. For me that is the fun part of the game, queueing Rated Battlegrounds so I can see what I get on my vault the next week.

Grind honor 61-69 and you’ll have plenty enough to get full honor gear.

:woman_shrugging:

Had it removed in shadowlands and pvp has been on a downhill spiral since. This insures battlegrounds are onesided and favors premade groups even more. This how the community likes it. Dead like korean mmo pvp lol. Funny how other mmos pvp ques are alot faster.

Ok sure so get the gear to be on the level playing field. If linty of times I’ve beat people who had better gear. Scaling destroys the point of progression. Scaling is cheap and caters to those who don’t put time in. I am not a hardcore pvper, that all I do but I don’t have a ton of time to play due to work and family and what not but there are tons of methods out there to help people gear up. So stop making excuses. We should make all the pvers live by the same example then pve should scale let’s see how long that would take before people start whining. No point to play a game if there is no progression.

Its so odd to me that those who can’t get/aren’t eligible to get the highest ilvl gear (2100, 2400 rating in shadowlands) are the ones okay with being at a perpetual gear disadvantage for no reasons other than they don’t do high rated pvp

The best pvp is when everyone is the same ilvl/can get the same ilvl (like it is now in DF.) Its not fun to obliterate someone, it’s not fun to get obliterated. I don’t know a single person who’s ever been deleted from 90% hp to 0 in one global and went wow that was so cool i love when people with more gear than me slap me around uwu do it again senpai

DF gearing is good. Bg blitz has scaling to a minimum level which is amazing (because it sucks to have deadweight undergeared on your team and it sucks to wipe a teamfight before cds are even over just because the other team is all undergeared). Shadowlands was the absolute worse gearing system for pvp we’ve ever had and it needs to never go back to that

Game is boring without progression 100%, I do think you can have both though, Ie what it is now.

The progression is getting tier/perfect stats with crafted stuff, but everyone is the same item level (generally)

that is all we asked for but apparently they don’t want to do it for some random reason, don’t get your hopes to high

Gear is a pve concept and should be completely removed from pvp.

All forms of competition in the real world take measures to ensure that everyone is on the same playing field.

For wow pvp gaps are:

Gear
Class/spec/comp imbalances
Premades in randoms

The class/spec/comp will always be there, but they’re hard to see with the other ones there. Just remove gear altogether from pvp (give a tournament vendor) and remove the ability to premade outside of rated.

Even playing field (as best as it can be) done.

Edit: in addition, the pve tier sets are hot garbage, so pvp specific tier sets should be made and be available from the tournament vendor.

No offense, but that sounds incredibly boring.

Yep, it’ll be boring to the pve orientated people.

Not to one single actual pvper would that be boring, it would be a dream come true, hence why these types of threads are so prevalent.

It literally takes 2 weeks to gear up for battle grounds. If that’s too much work for you, stay in Goldshire RP’ing for lap dances. This is an RPG. Part of the fun is putting in the time to feel your player’s power growth.

It would be boring to anyone, lol.
