Why isn't it able to refund (and reverse) transfers?

With the seriousness of queues, and the issues that have been happening, why can’t a transfer be refunded and reversed?

I read this thread: https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/en/wow/t/left-behind-by-blizzard/1331134

And I wanted to know why, in a situation like this, can’t say a server transfer be refunded and reversed?

Wouldn’t that be the best case, where say a guild that transferred off of Sulfuras (in this example) be able to go back, which both helps Sulfuras, and helps the queue issues on these other larger servers (Faerlina, Bene, Grobb)?

When paid services are provided there is a refund policy in place.

Character service refunds have a very limited time frame for the request. Further, when refunded, it rolls the character back to a save point before the transfer, so any progress would be lost.

World of Warcraft Game Services

We’ll refund certain World of Warcraft services within three days of purchase. Examples include:

  • Race, Name, or Faction Changes
  • Character Transfers
  • Guild Name Changes

A refund will revert the service your character or guild received.

The thread you linked has been removed, so I can’t speak to the original issue. Any person wanting to move will have to take advantage of free transfers when offered or use the paid service when it is off of cooldown.

This link may work better.

This guild left on the 28th, and transfer locked were placed on the 31st.

With the appeal process taking so long, and the chaos overall right now, can the 3 day limit not be flexible in situations like this?

Especially when it can help other things (server queues, keep players retention).

The amount of time an appeal takes is immaterial as long as the initial appeal is started within three days. Time elapsed to reappeal won’t matter either.

The only thing that really matters is the time elapsed before the first appeal is entered.

I see, the player stayed behind to get the PvP season rewards. If they had transferred they would not have gotten them.

Currently the answer is that the Developers set the policies that CS has to abide by. The only way that changes is if the Devs change it. They would have to open up transfers for that server again so that person could transfer over after they get their rewards.

As for refunds, no, that likely would not happen outside the 3 day window in the policy.

There are two ways to make suggestions - one is to use the in-game suggestion feature, an the other is to post on the Discussion forums where CMs collect feedback for the Devs. I can see that has already been done. That is good.

At this point the person will have to wait to see if the Devs make any changes to the current transfer restrictions. They are not the only one with a split guild so they are not alone in the concern.

If each individual wished to submit a refund request that is a possibility, though I imagine that would be extremely complicated to do.

With that said, Shaumian, the main issue is this is kind of a unique situation for those who wanted to transfer but couldn’t as they were waiting on their arena season rewards.

We don’t have a specific policy in place that would allow us to assist in this situation. That isn’t to say that we cannot, but it isn’t something that we can guarantee. After the rewards are awarded, I’d recommend submitting a ticket to inquire. We’d be in a better position to review the request.

Thanks for this response, glad to know there is a chance I can play the game with my friends again for my specific situation and I will definitely submit another ticket after I get my title.

I do hope though the devs consider lifting the restrictions or providing some possible solutions for other players too because there are 4 other people in my guild who got left behind for different reasons and I’m sure many others in similar situations across all the servers.

This isn’t as unique a situation as you think. I’m currently in the same boat, with slightly different circumstances. I had friends waiting until the queues died down to join us on Grobbulus due to other obligations, and now they can’t, and we can’t move anywhere where they can join us because you’ve only offered us Eranikus which is already locked and not a great option to begin with.

It is for those in the situation I specifically described. Other obligations are not really slightly different, they are entirely different circumstances.

If you wish to see the realm become available for transfers, it would be best to submit a suggestion through the Submit a Suggestion option found in the in-game menu or post on the Wrath of the Lich King General Discussion forum so our Developers may see it.

Wanted to give an update on this since I got my title on Tuesday and opened a new ticket and got a response surprisingly quickly. Sadly the game master told me they had tried to force my character to the server where my guild went but it was not possible due to the lock put in place by the devs. It’s very frustrating to get a response from the customer support person who I feel really did want to help me but is not in a position of power to do so. I know Vrakthris said “no guarantee” in the post but I have to admit I had gotten my hopes up of being reunited with my friends/guild and I’m devastated that I won’t be able to play wrath of the lich king with them.

I hope the devs will consider lifting the restrictions soon so that the countless other people I see posting on the forums every day with similar situations where they are separated from the people they want to play the game with are able to do so, or at least put some sort of back door for customer support to use in specific cases such as mine.
