voting with my annoying comments for a forever TBC era realm
Outland is calling for us…
If we are really going to entertain an eternal 1:1 classic experience, here is a way forward.
First let’s address the core problem. Realm tech is too old, its like what? 20 years old? You can’t just have one TBC server, it will suffer peak hour capacity issues, and you can’t have 10+ they will die off due to inactivity.
What’s required is dynamic realm technology that grows and shrinks instance/shard nodes based on player activity, segments players across nodes per zone evenly, and condenses down players into the same zone in real time (like how monsters spawn in). Everyone is on the same realm, part of the same economy, same global chat, with partying automatically bringing players to the same node.
If you truly truly want TBC or WOTLK to live forever, then I would suggest advocate to someone who understands computer science(or you) to pick up an open-realm repo and build this technology and then provide it to Blizzard. With this technology classic can survive.
I thought they re-did everything for Classic to be on modern servers?
It makes me sad to log into cata. I wish, if they didn’t want to do an era for tbc and wotlk, that it just stopped at wotlk.
Cata was the reason I quit wow. I think the compromise should be:
Retail
Era
Sod
Hard core
Wotlk era
Cata should be rolled back or shut down after its completion. It’s not considered classic wow and if you don’t stop now, the line between classic and retail gets blurrier as time goes on.
It seems silly to replay the whole game 2.0 and I feel like that is happening with the release of Cata when they really should’ve just stopped at Wrath. I mean, when is it going to stop when we hit retail? Cata is already in the retail game.
Please make eight new realms dedicated to the first three expansions so people can enjoy those expansions without the pressure to quickly move through content to reach end game.
2 TBC PVE realms
2 TBC PVP realms
2 WOTLK PVE realms
2 WOTLK PVP realms
So is tbc / wotlk but I’d support them making servers for those who like those modes.
I’m not sure they have the lasting power people claim, but there’s really only one way to find out
As I’ve said before, I want to believe blizzard releasing panda remix was at least a sign there won’t be anymore classic servers… Just remix events no one who likes classic WoW genuinely asked for Cata or beyond.
MoP is the truemark of when current retail wow began
This - this times a million.
TBC is coming or they are trolling us
Nobody (unless I missed it) seems to be addressing the in the room which is arena. I am guessing they don’t want to dedicate any resources to maintaining a policed and phase specific arena.
Just dumping all the content on jump would probably work, because you have to get there and get though it. But starting with s4 gear. That seems like it would invalidate most of the TBC content. Invert it start with s1, then people are mad you have to pve to pvp. Which goes to phased, now people are mad seasons are too long too short. ETC, seems like a bunch of decisions no one will be happy about.
I’m laughing at you right now.
Thats why they dont make all their decisions versus what will make every single person happy. You can’t please everyone but you make decisions that will gain the most subs for the longest period, because its about money for Blizz.
Right, and that is why there is no TBC or WotLK currently.
Wrong, they make mistakes just like cont. To Cataclysm. Shoulda just did Fresh Era servers
That’s kind of lacking self awareness, as that is what would have made you happy.
And again, ignoring that. What does a fresh TBC era server look like as far as pve content and pvp content. What is the synchronization. Is it phased? Like the the first TBC classic? What is the duration of the phases?
If it’s fresh I would imagine it is phased.
PvE gear affects PvP in TBC.
It should be Fresh, and transfers should not be allowed IMHO. However at this rate if they allowed transfers from Era Classic to Era TBC I would be okay with that because technically those toons did the vanilla content already and would just add to population.
What is the phase schedule? season schedule?
Yes, it didn’t used to be called seasons. In TBC “seasons” only referred to arena. The PvE content releases were called phases.
I am aware. That is extra stuff blizz would have to figure out. How to balance those two things phases and arena seasons. Or they just don’t and you get phase length = season length. Which maybe works, maybe doesn’t.
