Why is there no Era for TBC and WOTLK

And re-corrected. TBC is amazing.

Blizzard agreed since they sold 200k+ character xfers when 30 perfectly healthy servers from vanilla condensed into 5 100% servers in just NA alone.

Get rid of sod and cata and good to go. They can ditch retail and hardcore too tbh.

I never understood why they wanted to preserve vanilla WoW it’s not even good let alone enjoyable at endgame it’s just leveling and afk. We can do that on any form of WoW, I’d rather have TBC and WOTLK. And I bet there would actually be a player base for both instead of a dead vanilla realm.

As mush as I like TBC (it’s my favorite), Vanilla is a solid game. There is a reason why people love Era and can play it endlessly.

I remember not really being all that into bc. And that was when it was the next big thing for wow in 2007. Not that it’s a bad expansion. But we all have favorites.

My favorite will always be wrath. And I always liked vanilla to. But, with vanilla 1-6o being part of wrath, I would just cap my toons at 60. Vanilla just was a bit to hard for leveling. And I liked how wrath was a little easier. Plus no death knights in vanilla either.

But that’s just me. Wrath will always be when wow had the perfect middle ground in my op. And then cata kind of broke everything.

But cata is good to. But permanent wrath classic would definitely be the best of both worlds for me. I knew so many folks back in the day, turning off exp at 60 or 70 just for the progression experiences for those respective expansions. But I also understand having separate servers also.

Wrath especially lol. I remember it being super popular in 2009. Every single one of my friends was playing at that time. And most would come back again now if permanent wrath classic servers were announced.

But bc classic players should also have permanent bc classic servers to.

And no doubt people will be crying for permanent cata classic servers when it goes out to. Just give people what they want blizz.

I would like to give playing TBC endlessly a shot…

I would give anything to play wrath classic as a permanent option from blizz.

The original petition to bring back vanilla was essentially for what Classic-Era is today, and nothing more.

Then Blizz, recognizing the cash cow, phased in TBC and WOTLK to coast on the hype but were epicly short-sighted for not also having ended those projects with TBC-Era and WOTLK-Era.

I don’t know who at Blizz could’ve sincerely convinced themselves that players wanted to replay the entire retail timeline all the way through garrisons and the like. Sheer incompetence.

well–the professions all work and are not saddled with inexplicable level and ilvl requirements. special items are not nerfed, engineering trinkets are useful, cool things like linken’s boomerang, tidal charm, spell reflectors based on spell type, and resistances to magic schools, all work to make the game more fun and more immersive. like resistances were removed in early expacs but in doing so, the game made less sense. for example, attacking a fire based mob with fire, is now just as viable as other schools of magic, where originally a fire elemental was immune to fire spells

and no need to remove unlock requirements, since you arent pressed for time.

We think we want it, and we do…

devs cant support it. they refuse to have more branches of code bases for some reason, even classic is constantly updated to retails client.

I think they believe they are unnecessary given timewalking, where players can choose their timeline.

Now, if only they could also choose their character builds from each expansion, that would solve the problem completely. A coding nightmare perhaps.

In the end, it would be simpler to run the old expansions on their own servers. Might not be as economical. I liked the cloning idea and personally have wished for separate expansion servers. Notably the Classic era devs did roll back some recent changes following player protests so it is possible to reach them.

Don’t know what the conditions of sale were, but in the end, it might be Microsoft’s say.

We did pay for a specific game, in this case TBC. I’d like to be able to play it, as it was.

Of course this logic would then necessitate the creation of a server for each version of the game, which I wonder if it could actually work with a few thousand players on each server? Paid transfers for progression?
