Everything you said resonates with what I believed.
I was in total awe of Cata classic happening and it seemed tone death to what classic players wanted.
Now what will be more insane? If they do MoP classic, I’m 99.9% sure after the succesful mop remix event we won’t see any further progression into “classic” and retail catching up and instead give retail remix events.
yes and then the people who liked cata classic will be peeved because they won’t make permanent cata classic server options. And the whole train will start again.
bc is still vanilla, made somewhat more manageable by your guildies ability to carry you thru vanilla content due to gear and level upgrades. i cant begin to tell you how many friends, guildies and requesters, i carried thru sunken temple, deadmines and scarlet monastery, due to my advanced levels and outlands gear. it also helped that the standing stones by every dungeon entrance, had finally been converted to summoning stones in bc
We shot ourselves in the foot by crapping on Era and then completely abandoning it when TBC rolled out. If everyone was chill and bought clones with a bulk of players playing both versions simultaneously perhaps there was a decent chance to see TBC to Wrath cloning and TBC Era clusters staying behind.
Now, they see the feedback. They know people want fresh everything and TBC/Wrath Era as the cherry on top. Since its Blizzard, you’re gonna get it when they’re ready - which probably means when that would be more profitable than WoD Classic or wherever the current money train derails.
Right now, you’re only talking about a few thousand players at best, if that - a niche minority. Not enough people to get it done. Not yet anyway.
Oh yeah sure, it only killed every server and made them 100-0 one faction or the other… twice.
Party buffs made group comps extremely locked down
Lust group swap made 5 shamans required, and heavily skewed certain groups.
Drums being per group also made LW required in each group.
Engi being insanely OP made LW / Engi your only 2 professions, limiting play style.
Requiring dozens of normal dungeons just to get enough rep to do heroics was insane, killing the small servers, and condensing them into the big servers.
Lengthy attunement chains were fun the first time, not the third time after 3 months when nobody wants to do those heroics you need.
Mount Hyjal might be the worst raid ever conceived in the history of WoW, BT is too long with too much running. The best raid is the last raid when everyone decided to quit. Nerfing SSC and TK made those two raids a complete joke.
not to mention
illidan’s warglaives of azzinoth
bulwark of azzinoth
staff of immaculate recovery
and several other iconic weapons that are still, to this day in retail, being offered as recolors
