It’s for both punishment and reformation. The venthyr do exact punishment to their crimes, it’s not a fun place for souls who get sent there. They’re miserable. But the overall goal of the process is also to teach them through tough love where they went wrong and how they can better themselves. So the soul can be saved and earn a happier unlife.
The Maw is only for the few who are beyond saving and cannot be changed even by the venthyr’s efforts. Judging by the list of sinstone crimes we’ve seen we can assume nearly every evil soul goes to Revendreth first and is given a chance. Both places suck, but very few would go directly from Arbiter to Maw.

Yep. Those who were misguided go to Revendreth. Those who can’t be redeemed are chucked into the Maw to suffer for eternity. Basically Maw = Hell. (At least that’s how I understood it after playing through everything.)

Ok so I wasn’t too far off
honestly…I’m down for that twist. He’s always tried to act super neutral but a ton of his actions actually have been the catalyst for some pretty major conflicts in the story.
Are you genuinely asking this question, or are you just repeating what you heard from asmongold?
Maldraxxus is for the souls who lived for combat and pursuit of knowledge and strength. They’re given an opportunity to keep fighting and use their power in defense of the SL. It’s actually a good cause, many of them there consider it an honor to serve and protect. That’s a great afterlife to them.
The combat games were just contests of sportsmanship to motivate the atmosphere there. It didn’t become a bloodbath until two of the houses turned bad and started a civil war.
The Bastion memory was a flaw and the Archon has changed her mind now. But it was not a bad thing. For some people it can even be welcome to get rid of burdens and difficult memories from life. Not all are happy ones. It’s also optional. Many kyrian don’t become ascended and stay wingless with memories, it’s a long process. Those who fail or refuse can go back to the Arbiter and be sent somewhere else. It’s a choice to become a kyrian.
Zovaal had attacked his siblings to try to steal their sigils and abandoned his position as Arbiter. He has no one to blame but himself for that hole and his imprisonment.

As opposed to not hostilely?
I think a lot of people forget this right here. If someone doesn’t like the afterlife they are in they quite literally can just ask to be put somewhere else.
Yes. Came straight out of my own gd brain. It’s been there for quite awhile.
Sheesh, probably the one person that hardly uses YouTube except when I’m stuck on a quest… you must watch a lot of it if that guy also asked the question. It certainly isn’t an original idea - or I really can’t believe no one else has questions about it.
I mean, it seems no one ever asked if the jailer was really bad u till asmon posted that video.
And yea, I watch him. Dudes a savage, and entertaining.
But I fail to see how one could not comprehend why the jailer is evil.
Dudes pretty terrible.
Lol hush. I mean I guess he could have done it nicer. Say he’s quitting his job, write a dramatic post on twitter about it, and then leave to who knows where.
Instead of throwing rocks at people to take their stuff.

It’s not a failure if comprehension. …at least not mine…
But… how does that even work?
“YOU CAN CHOOSE FREELY!”
“YOU HAVE TO DO WHAT I SAY, YOU’RE MY SLAVE!”

I worded it in steps of how he progressed. It was a lie to Sylvanas in early SL.
sounds like zovaal is just the personification of every government that ever existed.

The solution is to not die. Dying is a choice, you can just not do it. You’re fine.
So if you do you’re freely choosing to join Zovaal’s evil empire.
Except remaking reality, destroying the universe and killing our world soul kinda does that for us. >.>
