Why is the dungeon community just so hostile?

Care to explain why you think so ?

I hear what you’re saying re: LFG infrastructures encouraging/discouraging a sense of community, but at the same time community is where we decide it will be. Being randomly linked doesn’t “make” me less than a number - the people in the group who ignore my messages do. These are social and cultural choices we’re making in the moment, and a reflection of the dominant priorities of the player base as a whole.

Over the last 2 weeks I have tried to do the responsible thing by running heroic dungeons to try to learn them before I start running even low level M+. This has turned out to be impossible, because the tanks run through them so fast that most mechanics don’t even appear, let alone have to be dealt with. In fact, I cant even take the time to figure out the dungeon layout because if I take a second to consult my map, the tank is already far far ahead. Every tank who complains that people running low level M+ don’t know what they are doing needs to look hard at themselves and be honest about their own approach to dungeons.

you are both right and wrong. you are right saying theses ressources already exist outside of the game, but he s also right because I remember reading somewhere that 80%+ of the player base don’t consume content about the game outside the game itself, meaning alot more players of wow are not watching theses guides and youtube videos then thoses that are.

You are right, everyone can choose to be a good person, but the reality and the results that we are seeing doesn’t agree with that you are implying. I wish it was so, but look at how many people have stories like that person I replied to.

soooo i should do homework for my game? that i play to escape reality. some people cant learn from watching a video. i know i can watch it 2-3 times and still not quite get it like trial by fire
not everyone learns or has the same mindset as you
does not make them wrong either.

Idk what ya’ll are doing to get kicked tbh.

I’ve done hundreds of dungeons this xpac/season and I’ve seen ONE person get kicked
and it was a tank who was literally walking behind us refusing to participate while having a childish meltdown for 5+ minutes.

I command you for trying to do what you said, and yes dungeons in heroics and normals are so easy that it doesnt allow you to see the mecanics properly, maybe try the follow dungeons, otherwise try to go in M+ low keys with a guild group on discord and have a great time learning togheter.

I never said you should play a certain way ? I agree it feels bad, and maybe has a community we should keep giving feedback so blizzard does something about it to have content in game to help players practice in a no pressure environnement.

if you pulled mythic + the way I did my 1-80 dungeons you would wipe 100% 8 packs is generally not survivable when a single spell going off might wipe you

Because modern dungeon design promotes toxicity. Most people do dungeons with M+ in mind, so every dungeon is a constant struggle to optmize the fastest and easiest way to clear the dungeon so they can push keys and brag about how high their IO score are.

he s not wrong ya know.

I just returned to the game for TWW after taking a bit of a break in Dragonflight but honestly the groups I’ve had have been pretty decent so far. Maybe I’m just lucky but it doesn’t feel like it’s gotten particularly worse

maybe ur a better player then the average ? your skills will definetly influence how much you like the experience.

I could’ve worded that statement a little better. But I appreciate you quoting that. I don’t want to spend any longer in a leveling dungeon that I have to. It should be done as quickly as humanly possible because that time does not matter
What matters is getting to the end of the game to progress your characters Power.

Bro, we are not promised tomorrow. We do not know how many seconds we have left. Time is literally the only thing that matters.

For those kinds of players, the information provided by the game is sufficient. There is a dungeon journal for all encounters in the game, and suggestions on how to deal with each mechanic. Your talent tree has detailed tooltips on what each ability does and how it works.

But the thing is, none of the people in this thread complaining about this care about that. They don’t actually want anything other than to be mad, and self-victimize.

Because M+ ruined the game as far as how regular dungeons are done. I tried some healing last week and had the same experience. All the tanks pulling way too much. Some worse than others. Last run I did had a druid tank that was pulling half the place and melting fast. I got stunned and couldn’t cast so they die. I decided I had enough and didn’t join any more dungeons. Wish they would make all the dungeons follower ones. I would rather have less xp and than deal with stupid stuff like this. Takes the fun out of it.

That’s the way it is man. If you perceive it as any different, then you are delusional. Your success in this video game is based on your actions
As well as the actions of the people you play with. And if the game put me with people that suck
Then they suck and I need to be rid of them. That’s just the way it is bro. It’s designed to be that way. If the difficulty of a 10 key was the same as the difficulty of a dungeon, then you could feel free to suck. But if the game stays the way it is
Keep that suck away from me.

I don’t go off on people and be rude or toxic to them
I always tell them why we wiped
Even if it’s my fault or theirs. But I just will not group with them again. Because they suck. Youre teaching the OP to suck as well by having them do follower dungeons.

So in Classic WoW, where people are speedrunning those dungeons, what ruined that? M+ doesn’t exist there.

I am tell you something, I once worked in a parking garage, VERY GOOD SIGNAGE EVERYWHERE, Very good information’s on the machines how the system work, and let me tell you people one thing I learned trough the year working there is that people DONT READ even if you shove it down their throat haha, the amount of time I got questions asked about this or that when the answer was LITTERALLY in THEIR FACE is too much. tell you something about the average folks.
