Why is the dungeon community just so hostile?

We are all hungry right now

if theres a say to do damage efficiently while being safe to do so. People will do it. Its not just a WoW phenomenon.

Have you considered that people find efficiency fun? It’s not actually that fun chain wiping to a dungeon that you’ve done potentially hundreds of times.

No one on earth likes having their time wasted.

Sounds like your ready for M+ from what you said. That tank trained you right.

I blame Marxism and the need to convince everyone that everything and everybody has to be = and that utopia can be reached if we were all just identical drones.

First day of mythic+ when everyone was learning, I was in a pug where someone just said “GRUBZORZ. GUBRZORZ. GRUBZORZ!!! YOU SUCK” and that was it. No idea what I was doing wrong, if I was doing anything wrong. Did I care? No. Did I try to recognize what I was doing wrong? Of course. Was I frustrated? Yes. Would other players have reacted the way I did? No, I think most wouldn’t, I think a lot would have just flamed back and either left the key or trolled, in my experience.

One example is getting flamed in Stonevault because on the first boss, some healers prefer you stagger the spikes, some want you to always get 2, some always get 3, and in lower keys people don’t even want to discuss this at the beginning of the key, how am I supposed to know what someone wants with no discussion?

They basically want everyone to conform to their play style.

The people posting in this thread, saying that most people want to go fast are the exact type of players that are left playing the game.

You guys forced out everyone else that doesn’t want to go zoom zoom zoom, or is hyper fixated on doing dungeons under 10 mins.

It is crazy to me, that 15 min dungeon runs are too long now, that players feel like their time is being wasted because a dungeon takes longer than 10 mins.

The bulk of retail players are just insufferable.

No studies show we don’t find efficiency fun. Humans are very inefficient. I never said you had to chain wipe. This is you strawmanning. You mean like what the mythic Plus scene is right now? If people don’t like that then once again why is it what mythic Plus is right now?

I agree with you people don’t like chain wiping which is exactly why you should have the game be fun so that you can learn your role and by the time you end up in content that is challenging you know that role and can play it well.

Right now we create the very problem that the mythic plus community complains about. You say you want people to know how to play the game and be there do their interrupts, but you defend a playstyle that literally creates that problem. So mythic players not only destroy the community for everyone else. They also non-stop complain about a problem they create.

Some folks will like your style, others won’t. You can’t please everyone. Just have fun, don’t sweat it and keep on doing your thing.

A yes, the old WoW devs talked a great length about players like you, that reverse engineer the virtual fantasy world back into a database, or spreadsheet.

Thing is
its really not hard, you use aoe, if somethign got off, you taunt. If you can’t hold the mobs even AoEing chances are you are not supposed to take such large packs.

Whats hard in taking is the defensive cds rotations for pulls.

I find efficiency extremely fun. I love doing something the most optimal way possible, I love watching replays of my gameplay, reviewing logs, and optimizing every button press I can. That is fun to me.

Sorry to let you in on some background secret, the chain wiping you may be experiencing in keys is a result of people playing badly. Timing +10s is not that hard with mild preparation, awareness, and focus.

I’m defending a playstyle that doesn’t waste my time. I don’t want to deplete a key, effectively wasting 30+ minutes because someone couldn’t be asked to watch a 5 minute video or read a quick write up of a bosses mechanics.

“Many WoW Players are Nerds. More News at 11!”

I would agree, I just returned after a 5 year hiatus, even when the game first came out you had very few tanks that would do this, and dungeons were a lot less forgiving.

Some of these tanks in both LFD and LFD Heroics barely give people a chance to learn boss mechanics, which is important for Mythic+ Dungeons.

The tanks in heroic dungeons aren’t the problem tho (cause they are usually pretty good and pull just enough to keep everyone challenged and alive).

The problem is dps que ing as tanks in leveling dungeons. They are just awe full.

That was a whole lot of words for a whole lot of nothing content. You literally responded to nothing that I actually said and tried to talk yourself out of a scientific study that says that humans don’t like efficiency and that we are very inefficient. What you like has nothing to do with what humans like. The reality is you are on the minority and the vast majority of humans that live on this world don’t care about efficiency. Learning is never going to be efficient. It’s impossible because of the way you must learn by experience. I can see you’re quite arrogant and ignorant.

Yes my entire point was that people play badly because this game is designed for them to play badly and your attitude actually contributes to that bad design. Like I said you’re not actually having this discussion. You’re just avoiding having to agree with me.

Not Everyone learns from videos, and many people would rather learn from Experience than having everything spoon fed to them. It must be nice that many people have no lives that they can watch hours of videos to learn content, personally I would rather spend that time with my wife and kids.

You nailed it!!! I get so tired of arguing with the M+ commuinty. They say that M+ didn’t bring all this toxicity to the game, but they will sit on these forums all day long flaming people, calling them bad players, telling them to “git gud”.

It was glorious to watch all the M+ complaints over the last few weeks, that community is eating itself alive, but sadly they’re taking the rest of the game down with it.

You should see their MMO-Champion forum posts. I think I lost a few brain cells reading some of their comments over there.

Why does someone who has a different life and able to watch videos become pejoratively called someone with “no life?” It sounds like you think it “must be nice” to have ‘no life,’ as you’ve defined it. So I guess we’re sorry you have a wife and kids?

I have a husband and kids and I can watch videos to assist learning content
You can do whatever you want to do, why does that make someone else’s choice the subject of ridicule or ire?
