I would like to see mages have one spec in the upper tier for pve. They are a pure dps class and the fact they’re so scarce when you pug anything demonstrates players voting by playing dot and cleave specs.

That said I would think in 8.2 the class might get a bump. All 3 specs for a pure dps class should not be mid to lower so there is reason for that to happen.

Why are people still using the “pure dps class” phrase as if it means anything at all.

The game is not balanced around what off specs other classes have, stop insinuating they do. You being a pure dps class doesn’t mean you’re entitled to anything over a hybrid class.

Yea we’re pretty much useless except for inteleect buff and timewarp (you’ll have a shaman in your group, don’t kid yourself). While I might regret it, I’m planning on switching over to elemental shaman as we speak because mages are just dead weight as they currently stand.

I unsubscribed because of this issue, check the forums and patch notes now and then to see if any changes have been made to the class. They haven’t.

Or you could stop logging on to the mage forums and telling everyone they’re wrong. If you disagree with the mages here, so be it. Let them think what they want and move on. I’m going to do that myself.

I wouldn’t say Blizzard balances around what offspecs are available. The argument is that we do not bring the extra utility that having other role offpsecs bring, we are always doing damage. We can’t offpsec heals when the guild needs more healers on a certain fight, go tank when one of your main tanks is absent or tank/heal mythic plus for groups. We only do damage. I think this is absolutely fine. As a pure dps class you have three different damage dealing play-styles and strengths/weaknesses to work with. Ideally, when one spec is performing poorly on a fight I should be able to switch to another spec and pick up more damage. The problem arises when all three choices do low damage on all fights.

You’re trolling because your opinions are patently and willfully ignorant of the class and seem more about seeking attention then substantive dialog.

Your “numbers” don’t account for the biggest problems with the class as a whole. These are the mage forums. No one here cares how unappreciated you feel as a hunter.

Personally I wouldn’t mind the state of mages if the rotation of all 3 specs didn’t feel like a worse version in BFA than Legion.

Every patch and hotfix gives the impression from Blizz that “eh mages are fine” with no changes. Without changes, I have no incentive to play my historically favorite class.

Because Blizz is not balancing now but simply managing class populations.

No wonder they have made marginal DPS classes like SP and Ele Shaman OP (top 3) in the last two raids.

Blizz is litterally saying: We’d rather you not play a mage.

Just move on.

Fire isn’t useful on spread cleave which is several of the fights. Being able to spread cleave =/ pure cleave on stacked targets.
