I’m not crying lol I’m presenting data that supports my argument, you’re all crying about how youre not #1 or you should be competitive with the dotting classes on a tier that favors dotting classes…facepalm.
Also NONE of my data was Sims. It was all data from actual fights. Also the example was fire which is the lowest performing mage spec and that gap was 1200, arcane is doing BETTER than fire.
I mean, I acknowledge that. But even in simulations the mage does better. The one context it does lose on is multi-target, but, i could probably fix that by swapping a few talents around.
Yes, we’ve all seen the light in lieu of your anecdotal evidence, despite every group in the MDI running two outlaw rogues. And no, it isn’t just shroud.
It’s about 2.5k going on logs from about 75th-99th percentiles (the same logs that show BM above the highest Mage spec…). Which ends up being about 8-10%… That’s not counting the DoT specs, who are another 1-1.5k above that.
Don’t tell me it’s “really not that bad” when there’s a 10-15% difference.
At this stage there’s no point arguing with the Hunter. Just report for spam/trolling and move on.
Simulations are wonderful but real-life raiding conditions are quite another, especially for casters. Outlaw isn’t great on single-target, but will destroy a mage of upwards of 20+ IL in mythic+ or on packed adds.
If you know how to play a mage, you can survive a lot better than a lot of classes. Though I’m only going off of a Fire Mage standpoint cause I can still do a ton of dps and live for a while. Frost it depends on the talents I use.
I mean, I don’t expect Fire mage to have a lot of burst at low levels. I don’t know what level you get combustion at even. I’m assuming its 60+. That’s a big piece of your damage.
At 120, I can more often than not burst unsuspecting people in Rated BGs with a greater pyro or two, along with a combustion burst, from 100-0. Flamecannon makes it a lot more fun too, with the added 15% dmg and 15 yards cast range.
I’m not asking to beat multi dot classes this teir, I’m asking to have higher dps in at least one spec to compete with like, literally every other ranged - that includes NON multi target classes.
I can play my ele shaman, who I put in about a fourth of the effort to play and optimize, and still do significantly more dps than my mage. I dont even play it right i’m sure. And yet here we are.
I have a 120 mage on black dragon flight that I’ve played since CATA or maybe late wrath.
Have to admit I"m looking forward to pvp running the greater pyro and other talents with azerite pieces that make it all work.
I did go give frost and arcane a shot in some BG’s. still feel similar. Low level mage just needs a bit more.
Looking forward to trying the new neck slots and that mecagon trinket with punch cards.
My 120 has that on call crit trinket and it really helps fire also.
I’m leveling a mage on storm rage as my “relaxed” leveling alt.
Where low level mages really shine is run a healer, and a good dps and use something like frost to control targets and maybe a few dps hits. I find myself playing it more and more like a support class similar to my shaman in resto spec, and then I just find a good dps and pocket heal them and general heal the BG.
Organized groups seem to work better.
I"m hoping to put together 3 -5 players and we group and use voice coms and see what we can do in different content.
Also been spending a lot of time looking at venruki and the triple fire mage arena content. Doubt I’ll manage anything like that cause those fellows in the “pi company” group are just that skillful, but if ya like that it’s worth looking at the pyro one shot set up.
Yeah mages aren’t great but if you’re getting benched for not doing enough dps it’s a you problem and not a class problem. Mages do plenty enough DPS to down every single boss
