Because PVPers would cry and whine about not getting to enjoy the fruits of their labour in the content that they play.

It’s a hyperbole, used as a figure of speech, to make a statement.
Of course there is no hard set in-game prerequisite for Battlegrounds other than level 15, but if you are getting in there, at level 120, without having at least 420 ilvl, chances are you will be dead weight on your team.

This is a RPG. We level up and challenge ourselves to get better gear. If you want to be the same go play Overwatch or Fortnite.

I don’t agree with this. I don’t normally do bg but when put arathi blizzard in a few weeks ago instead of comp stomp, I ended up doing one and I sure didn’t have ilvl 420 gear on my mage that went in there and I did fine.
Anecdotal experience does not reflect the overall state of things.
I just went with my 380 lock and we 5 capped, but that’s because the other team sucked and we were overgeared as a team.
Must have been terrible for the horde.
They would still get the rewards just the playing field would be even.
Nah I’m good, thanks though.
What’s the point of getting rewards if you can’t use them?

That is true.
PVE is way superior than PVP gearing right now. It is not even close to be honest.

PVP gear vendors would lower queue times for Horde and would allow Alliance to have more seasoned players. Right now the participation of PVP is at an all time low.
No one should just be handed gear. You should have to put some effort into getting it. This isn’t a people are forced to do mythic plus thread, this is you don’t want to put time in to earn the gear.

The time required to get the gear FROM PvP, is at least 100x more than getting the same gear from M+5s.
That’s the point of the thread.

It is not 100x more. I am almost betting you are a come and go person who plays for a few months then quits and when you come back you figure you should have equal gear to everyone else.
Surprise, surprise your armory indicates exactly this.
Geared players don’t really do the brawls that frequently.
But even in unrated BGs you will see geared players with mythic + gear.
Actually mythic + gear was a problem in unrated BG’s and arenas in Legion even with the template and scaling system. This is because in legion your templates scaled based on your ilevel. And the easiest way to raise your ilevel was with mythic + gearing.
Now in BFA there is still scaling mechanisms in place despite the removal of templates. But PVE gearing features a lot more HP due to higher than average ilevel availability while also having better opportunity for gem slots.
In the current season blizz stuck in a stealth buff to PVP gear by having it warforge/titanforge more often with gem slots. But the damage has been done. Benthic gear with gem slots outstrips anything really in most PVE and PVP situations. Mythic + gear is too easy to obtain compared to unrated, rated PVP and raiding.
It never was when we had PvP gear and vendors. People started out with the crafted sets and earned their PvP currency, bought their gear and worked up to the next sets. They had their PvP gear progression just like we have our PvE gear progression.
People without PvP gear could still queue and they weren’t at a complete disadvantage. It worked well. Many people were happy with how the gearing worked.
Blizz then ruined it and keeps ruining it. I’m starting to become convinced that they’re hoping PvP will die with what little effort they put into it now.

thats true, you can grind for weeks in nazjatar which isnt even worth it now if you have not already
the pvp gearing system is awful in bfa. they shouldnt just hand it out but they can do better than this

Check my achievements and see if I’m like that.
And yes, it’s a LOT more time. I don’t think the 100x figure is an exaggeration either.
Even comparing benthic gear vs. the one piece of conquest per week, Benthic is faster.
BTW, the only time i quit was last november due to a PC break. Other than that, I played this game non stop since 2008.
Check the rest of my guild, they are all my chars.
This has only been my main since Legion.
And I’ve been personally told, by PvPers, that the way I’m gearing is the slowest possible. I should be grinding Mythics or doing premade content (mostly, Arenas).
