Gold is easy enough to come by. You just have to adapt to the changes each expansion.
Maxed out mining & 100+ knowledge points. It nets you more ore and higher quality ore.
Hmmmm, I hadn’t thought about that
My toon is literally a fresh miner/herb gatherer, I think it was somewhere around 50 skill points when I logged out
As several MVP have talked about, the game is feeling more and more designed around trying to push us into buying WoW tokens.
It takes an average of 15k gold to craft just one piece of armor, and about 60k to craft any weapons or offhands.
Players get only about 15-18k gold by doing EVERY quest in TWW.
prices should be based on that, but instead we just seee all the players who gave their own characters Nepo-baby problems by thinking that its okay to charge 12k for one material that isn’t really rare at all and only costs about 500g to make.
If it costs 500g to make, charge 1.2k. Hell, back in wrath both of my engineers and bank alts were in total control of the Arrow and Bullet market, and I only charged 1-5g over production cost. I was making only 1-5 gold for every stack I sold and still ended up gold capped by the end of the expansion.
But I can only imagine how hard it would be for a new or returning player who has no money and no real awareness of the profession systems that require you to go look up some pretty complex guides to figure it all out. Seriously, even the people who make wow a second job are calling bs on the prices.
MVP, Players, crafters, buyers…nobody is happy with the market prices.
IT’s gotten so bad that even on Icecrown people are talking about asking blizzard to set the price range for materials so things are more consistent.
I saw one guy talking about making it so that people can’t set prices to be more than +/-5% of an established price based on raw gold potential via questing.
Imagine if all the mats were affordable for everybody. Imagine how many people there would be in the pool of potential raiders and pvpers and M+ people who are only being limited by a prohibitively expensive market.
I see this. This character had about 500k gold before the expansion launched. Not really much of a gold farmer anymore since I always seem to have enough. Bought a few tokens over the years of course, not even going to try and hide that.
But now I have less than 50k after just two characters and that’s with me farming a good chunk of whatever mats I needed myself.
This. I’ve casually made 300k just selling mats I sold from leveling my druid to 80 on herbs and ore.
I just did a Tier 4 Delve, died twice because everything was OP and mechanics just frustrating. Anyways, in the treasure room, there were like 5 spots of gold, each was 2-3g. lmao
My repair bill about 70g. I got a useless green item (it was lower item level than the one I had lol), I vendored it for 26g.
So overall, I lost around 25g-30g doing the Delve. Not to mention about 30-40min to slug it out through the Delve. And given it was required of the main quest, just further waste of time.
Yeah, so not sure what they are expecting, if they want players to like Delves…then they should make them likeable, hence, rewarding. That’s just not going to happen if players instead end up losing time and gold, and constantly showered with pitiful rewards like a few tokens/other-currencies which get them nowhere (get 5-25 crystals but anything for them costs around 2500 and mostly just cosmetic, trivial junk; or 10 valorstones when that’s not enuff to upgrade an item and while no items drop that can be upgraded anyways, double-lol), under-level items, and all.
It’s just crazy. Oh well.
try being a blacksmith being given work orders for epic weapons. 20k+ for the Sanctified Alloys that blizz refuses to have the NPCs provide, and your reward is 50 gold and 10 whole acuity
go fishing
you don’t even need a fishing pole
sell all the fish you catch on the AH for the same price as everyone else.
You don’t even need to leave Dorn to do this
just sit/stand next to the fishing trainer and start fishing.
you’ll get grey to vendor and fish to sell on the AH.
Yes you’ll make more if you leave town and fish in the pools in the lakes and streams.
I’m giving you a no expense low effort way to make a little gold early in S1
herbs and wax till im bored → 25k
repeat when needed.
its pretty nice now but it’ll be meh when prices settle heh
*theres a potion to find more herbs that i can make, seems to help quite a bit.
I get worse with Inscription. Unless I make those darkmoon crafted reagents, I get nothing.
People literally have the gall to offer five silver for a Treatise. At this point I will make more money by selling inks to all the fools trying to actually run inscription in a game that clearly hates inscription every expansion because they keep taking more and more things that we can make away. We can’t even do actual inscription. Most of my income comes from making the older glyphs that people want and just selling inks. Not even sure why most people bother with inscription, and Iv’e been doing it since at least CAtaclysm for sure lol. Maybe wrath, I don’t remember that well.
And wow tokens are getting cheaper and cheaper. I bought 2 at the end of DF and sold them for 300k+ each in prep for TWW (I’m a broke noobie). When I checked this morning, they were going for 185k on the AH. I could buy 3 tokens right now with the gold I got 3 months ago from the two I bought.
Well, to be honest, while I agree it is a bit frustrating. It’s kind of part of what most MMO RPG does that’s not wow. I think it gives respect to crafting. The problem is crafting itself is tedious to do because patreon work order are how you farm your skills. The craft of those things are rediculous. PvP epic gem for my JC is 7000 honor or 20K on AH. I have to provide it too… Kind of rediculous. I don’t want to pvp in order to craft, that’s my only complaining.
So many people offering to make Treatise on my server for free to basically level the prof for free. I’m hopeful that as time goes on, there will be less and less of that and we can get back to making money with it.
Imma have to correct you a bit because I’ve been here and watched the prices with anticipation of them becoming 25k again lol. When they came out the token cost about 25k gold. I know several people who bought a few years worth of wow time when they came out becaues they were affordable and reasonable. 20 usd for 25k gold. Seemed reasonable.
The expansion launched, so the price goes down naturally. If you wanted to buy one, you should have done what I did and buy one the same day they announced the new expansion lol.
yeah…lets keep this inflation crap up so its a billion gold to buy some gear on the AH…and that 5 gold mat is now 500 gold. lol
Inflation is BLIZZARDS fault for dumping it into the economy.
gold sinks dont work if someone isnt swapping mogs and is just running the AH all day long. They just keep draining the gold from the economy and sitting on it.
The game needs less gold coming into the system and …sorry…MUCH lower gold caps per account
To drive token sales
Everything in the x-pack is resource heavy.
Inflation can works if it means you’re getting a good amount of gold for doing content that’s something I’ve disagreed with people in the past. Better expansions for players is when new sources of gold make older gold irrelevant because then playing the game is worth more than grinding other sources or sitting on it.
While in DF and now TWW playing the game is a net loss, you’re losing gold if you’re not grinding sources of gold. It seems to be trying to emulate a real life economy which is simply not fun for many people because it means you have to provide services/ressources to other people to get paid, you can’t simply play the game because the game doesn’t feed you the ressources to play it which personally I would call bad design/mobile game design that tries to push you into microtransactions.
If this means that people playing ah gets multiple gold cap easily then so be it, make gold worthless for ah goblins. Trying to make it worse for everyone to try to make it harder for those players is simply not worth it. Account gold cap could help accomplish the same which is something I’m not sure they want to do.
i started feeling this like a year ago in DF. for five years i was staying afloat gold-wise just selling the occasional boe i’d find in raids. suddenly it wasnt enough and my gold drained lol.
now i have to actually do things to make gold heh
So i used to use my command table to make the gold i needed to survive. In shadowlands it was dope, just log in daily and run the addon it auto does everything- awesome. Dragonflight comes along, and okay no command table, ill deal with it. World quest farming mostly, i dont have the time/willpower to do a crafting toon.
WTF happened with this expansion? why did yall half the racing quest gold? Almost like ya’ll are doing this to get me to buy wow tokens… but like yall are already charging me monthly, this feels wrong.
I have to say they really zapped the gold out of the Dragon Races for sure…that hurts some folks for sure …it was easy gold if you had a few alts doing it too…
